Meeting with florist

Kendra, on March 15, 2018 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Today I am meeting with a potential florist. Is there anything I should bring to be prepared? What are some questions I should ask? Thanks in advance!

Bring your budget, inspiration, and venue address.

    Be prepared to ask about

    in season flowers

centerpieces for your number of tables

more inexpensive flowers with a similar look if your proposal is over budget

    ceremony flowers or arch decor

types of bands for corsages (ours offered pretty cuffs that could be worn as bracelets after the wedding)

delivery radius (to be sure they can deliver to your venue)

ask about really pollen heavy flowers if you have guests with bad asthma or BP members with allergies

ask if they do preservation of the bouquet or bout after the wedding (if you want to do that)

    Good luck!

First thing is get you budget settled for your florist. Then you need to have in mind where you’re going to include flowers: corsage, boutonnière, bouquet, centerpieces, aisle runners, flower girls ect. Have some arrangement and color ideas in mind. If there’s specific flowers you know you want to include ask about them, and other flowers in season. Pinterest can help with getting some basic ideas, also this link has a good list of areas you might need flowers

I told them my budget, colors (actually I knew exactly the flowers I wanted and no substitutions) but if you're flexible let them know.

If the price they give you is higher than you want, ask how you can bring the price down. Reusing centerpieces as decor for ceremony too, subbing more greenery for flowers or less expensive/in season flowers. making bouquets a little smaller. do they do set up for you or do you have to have someone do it. does anything need to be returned to them afterwards or can guests take home the centerpieces.

ETA: also bring Pinterest inspiration or pictures to show them what you want!

I brought color swatches for the BP and my accent color, inspiration pics from pinterest for the bouquets, pictures I had of my dress and the venue and a 1/144 scale X-wing I had built with a centerpiece inspiration pic for the model's use.

Knowing table sizes is important, and if you want arrangements outside of table arrangements start thinking about that.
