Meeting with DOC/Final walk through

Tara, on July 18, 2017 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm meeting with our DOC for the first time tonight. We will be at our venue which is exciting, we haven't seen it since we booked in Jan of 2016.

Anyway, I know I should have a list the size of Texas on questions to ask her, but I am drawing a blank. What are some good questions you all have asked yours?

Also, should we bring some of our decor? We are providing our own arbor decor, 2 artificial garlands from hobby lobby.. and our reception decor, table cloths, runners, centerpieces, etc.. just to see if everything meshes?

Anything I'm forgetting? I think I should prob give her a list of all my vendors tonight, too..

Thanks for your help in advance Smiley smile

@FutureMrs. I didnt get any advice (as you can tell) but I can pass over how mine went... We discussed what time she needed to be there. We went over a layout of how to set up for reception and ceremony. We went over where each major thing would go and how to set it up (memorial table, guest book signing, sweetheart table, cake table, food tables for our buffet). How FH and GM will walk out and where they will stand. Where me and my girls will be as we wait to walk out. Where we are putting our sand ceremony. She reminded me on things I might need to get still, like our caterer will provide plates for dinner but we need cake plates and utensils. Where would I like the guests to go directly after the ceremony.. Timeline on how we wanted to begin reception, cocktail hour while we do some pictures, then eat dinner (they will make our plates) then we will do our first dance, then cake cutting. She is planning to set out guestbook and decor with it at the entrance of the ceremony aisle, and then moving it into reception as soon as ceremony is over. Told us where she wants us to go directly after ceremony to avoid the crowd so we can sign marriage license and take more pics. She gave me a clearer idea of what time we need to be there to get ready and be good to go by the time our photographer shows.. A whole lot of stuff that I thought I already knew and was prepared for.. but really wasnt prepared for.

Also, If you havent seen your venue in 19 months like we hadnt, I TOTALLY suggest going up to at least do a walk through. Mine has changed SO much (all good upgrades) that some of my decor I already had bought, wont go with it anymore.. and I need to re-route my ideas. I am 59 days from my wedding and I feel like I have zero time now, and have sooooooo much to do and figure out. ahhhh.

But it was good.. everything is real now.. and how do women have weddings without a DOC? Seriously, she is going to be the best money I spent on this whole thing!

Also- I gave her a list of my vendors which she was grateful for.. now she will coordinate with them directly to let them know what time she wants them there for each thing. So I def recommend coming with at least that.

I wish I was better prepared and already had a day of timeline figured for her.. so thats my assignment this week to type up for her so she can get to work.
