Meeting with a florist

Tiffany & Charles, on January 9, 2020 at 8:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

When is a good time to meet with a florist? I do not plan to have a lot of flowers at ceremony/reception but just the basic: bouquet, boutonnieres, corsage etc. We are getting married this October!

Thanks,

I would start scheduling meetings ASAP. The first florist we chose was booked over a year out.

I agree with pp about doing it asap. I think there are two things that will be challenging for you: first, October is an extremely popular wedding month so a lot of florists (and other vendors) may already be booked, and second, yours will be a relatively small order for a wedding (no judgment, just a fact) and some florists have a monetary minimum for weddings. Another major factor will be where you are located (big city vs. small rural area) which will impact your available options. If you don't find what you're looking for with a local vendor, you might want to look at the options available at Costco, Sam's Club, etc., that have a wide-variety of choices available to be shipped directly to you. Finally, if you have a high-end grocery chain, you might talk with their floral department. We had a relative who got gorgeous flowers (just her bouquet, corsages for the moms, boutonnieres, and table centerpieces) through her local Wegman's, an east coast grocery store. They were amazing and she thought the price was excellent compared to other options she looked at. Good luck!

I agree with MOBSoCal, Sam's Club had really great prices on florals if you want real flowers. I took the artificial route and ended up saving a ton and didn't have to pay anyone to do them! If you feel you aren't getting what you want with a florist, I would suggest getting artificial flowers! Smiley smile

I agree with PP's. I have had my flowers decided on for about 2 months. Deposit is going to be due soon. I would definitely start looking for a florist ASAP!
