Meeting photographer- what to expect?

6-1-18, on June 3, 2017 at 9:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm meeting with my wedding photographer and I'm not sure what to expect. What questions do I need to ask her? I'm paying the deposit today and signing her contract.

Also, a 45 minutes engagement session is included with the package. Is that even enough time to do an outfit change? Do I need to add extra time?

Our engagement session was 1-2 hrs. 45min may be a bit short on time.

If you are signing and providing a deposit, you should have all your questions answered already like basic things:

    - what is included, USB, prints, album

    - image rights

    - rough estimate of number of finished edited images

    - timeline for delivery on engagement and wedding images

    - how many photographers

    - vendor meal required

    - type of imagery you are looking at (getting ready all the way to end of night)

    - style of photography

    - how do they operate with other vendors (videographer etc)

    - backup equipment and emergency situations

Okay this makes me feel better because most of these questions are answered in the contract she sent for me to look over.

Do you guys think it's ok to give a list of shots I want or should I just let her do her thing?

Any good photography will ask you eventually what specific MUST HAVE shots you want.

So you can provide her with anything you absolutely must have, whether it's a shot of the veil, dress, your mom helping you into your dress etc. in addition to formal shots and portraits. If you do formal ones, ensure you have the names of each person in the shot for EACH shot so they know how many people and who they are.
