Meet and greet food, proper hosting food levels

Jamie, on May 8, 2017 at 9:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

We are pricing out food this weekend for our meet and greet and the hotel also sent us their menu for catering which has per person pricing. We were planning on getting sandwich platters and other assorted trays for everyone, but figure we should compare prices between the catering and Costco. How much did you plan on each person eating for your meet and greet? I was thinking at least 2 sandwiches per person (or one sandwich on wrap depending on what we choose to do) and getting enough so that there is plenty of variety.

Does your hotel allow you to bring outside food?

I'm calling them tomorrow because I think there has been a miscommunication, I asked for a room to host my guests in the day before the wedding and they are now trying to turn it into a reception dinner. So they haven't answered my questions about bringing in outside food, even though I told them we were just wanting something simple like sandwiches. A meet and greet is how we are planning on serving dinner to all 60 of our out of town guests while keeping to a budget. A casual meal at the hotel where the room block is where everyone can meet and get to know each other and those that have flown in and are tired can simply drop in and we can greet them and they can grab food and retire to their rooms. Our wedding is a pseudo destination wedding, it is about 2 hours away, but even then only about 5 guests would be local. Almost our entire guest list has to either drive from the other side of the state or fly in from the other side of the country.

Hi Jamie! What if you hosted this a little later in the night and just called it a welcome reception with drinks and a few passed or stationed appetizers? That keeps it casual and is great for people coming and going as they please.
