Meal selection advice!

Cady, on July 10, 2020 at 2:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17

Hi there,

I am looking for advice on which options to go with for meals. Lucky for us, we are on our 3rd attempt at planning a wedding. This time we have changed venues (and states), and rescheduled for Sept 13th. The venue offers a complimentary tasting, but I feel like I need to get my invitations ordered and sent before the tasting is even occurring (July 19).

All that being said, which two options would you prefer? I am leaning toward A&C since the chicken/fish option will save us a little money, but I know chicken/beef is most popular.

A. Savory Herb Roasted Statler Breast of Chicken with Seyval Blanc Wine Sauce

B. Pepper-Crusted New York Sirloin with Blue Cheese Mousse and Shallot Jam Balsamic Reduction

C. Baked Haddock with Seyval Cream and Crumb Topping

Thanks in advance!

    I'd pick A.
Here is my reasoning - not everyone likes fish and not everyone likes their steak cooked the same way. Some like it well done, some medium rare, and some rare. With chicken - everyone is happy.

I would do A&B for my crowd because not many people like fish. You know your guest best, if you have some seafood lovers go with A & C Smiley smile

I would do A and B cause i think it would be safer than fish. some people are just so not into fish. i personally love fish though.

I would personally do A & B. We had chicken, prime rib, and salmon on our menu, and number of chicken and beef were about split with salmon far behind.

I would do chicken and beef since those are more universally appealing than most fish.

I think it’s a know your crowd thing. For us, A&C would be fine because most of FH’s family typically order fish when we go out to eat soI imagine that’s what they would do for. My family would prefer A&B, but they would still have something they would like either way. Good luck!

I would do A and B but also have something available for people who are vegetarian/vegan. You also want to know if any of your guests have allergies such as gluten.

I would do a&b. I love fish, but catered fish at a wedding has made me sick.

I’d do A&B as well - my husband and I would both choose B! 😄

For our wedding about 40% of our guests chose the beef dish, 30% chose chicken, 20% chose fish and 10% went with the vegetarian dish!

Must be a know your crowd thing! At our wedding, we had 3 options (chicken, salmon, and butternut squash ravioli) and 60% of our guests chose the fish (I'm actually very allergic to fish, but we knew that many of our guests would want it). So maybe I'm partial, but I would choose the chicken and the fish.

I am doing the same chicken entrée as a plated and served meal for all my guests, except for four vegan entrées. We originally were going to do a buffet with chicken shrimp veggie skewers, but with our postponement and Covid we went from buffet style to plated and served.

My invitations have already gone out for our September wedding, so no menu card was printed or included. I figure chicken is a crowd pleaser and we’re also gonna have a salad and bread and dessert and appetizers so there will be some thing for everyone.

I would pick A & B. I would typically pick a fish option, however, I am not a fan of Haddock.

I would prefer A&B but not many people like blue cheese, so I would double check with your guest what condiments they would like to include in their seated plates Smiley smile

I'd do A and B because my partner's family doesn't like fish. However, most everyone eats chicken so if money is really tight, picking fish shouldn't be a problem. You may just get more people eating chicken.
