Meal Options

We went to our venue tasting yesterday and have been talking about what we should serve. Our venue is $80 per person, but we decided that we want to give our guests a choice of what food they have, so we are paying an extra $6.95 Per person for a choice plate. However after our venue tasting we’ve been talking about maybe doing a duet plate instead, so they would get both garlic chicken and New York strip steak. That costs $5.95 extra person. As a guest, would you prefer to have a choice between steak and chicken, or just both in smaller portions? As the bride/groom, what would you most likely choose?

As a bride and a guest, I would probably do the duet entree.

I’d say a choice of one or the other!

I prefer a choice. Might be me being weird, but I’m not usually interested in multiple proteins. So personally, I’d rather have more of what I know I want.

I don’t eat steak, so, as a guest, I would prefer a choice of the two. I would hate wasting! But as a bride, I would probably go with the combo.

We're going to be doing a duet plate. My event manager told us that most often, when given a choice, a couple who attends a wedding will each get one or the other option and then share it between each other anyway. Also, having it be a duet plate means less hassle on you for RSVPs and place cards, since every plate will be the same (except for dietary restrictions).

Do you have any guests with dietary restrictions and/or that are vegetarian?

As a guest I'd prefer choice but that's just because I don't eat beef, so I'd feel bad wasting food.

As someone else who does not eat beef, I would also give the choice. Beef and chicken orders were surprisingly equal from our RSVPs....so we are glad we gave the option. We had only 2 veggie orders.

I like the duet plate, my venue offered beef/chicken with a seafood combo so we didn't do the combo because I know alot of people dont like seafood. The combo plate is something different and less work for you in the end.

Yes a few. They are still able to get a vegetarian meal. We just don’t have to pay for it! They just would get the one dish if we did a duet plate, not two.

A choice of one or the other is very reasonable I honestly would not have expected to get both

We are doing a duet plate and a vegetarian option. As a guest I would want a combo plate as well since I’m not a picky eater and I would rather try more lol

Daughter's menu was a filet and chicken breast duet or a vegetarian meal. Daughter and SIL loved both entrees at the tasting and it meant we didn't have to track menu choices (except for the 3 veggie meals), it was an easy decision. All we heard was how delicious the food was, so it worked well.

I prefer choice. However, I know some people (like my dad) hate chicken, and others don't eat red meat. You know you guests best. If they are usually up for both proteins, then a duet sounds great. If you've got picky eaters, the choice may be the way to go.

Both smaller portions. It gets complicated trying to keep track of each persons plate

We're doing this but in a buffet setting. We purchased enough for everyone to have both proteins BUT because it's a buffet, they don't have to eat both.
