Meal choice for guests

futureMrsG, on August 12, 2018 at 6:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

My FH and I are thinking of doing a plated dinner for our guests (200-230). We figured it would be easier and less chaotic compared to doing a buffet. I was just trying to figure out the easiest way to figure out the guests meal choice. Do we have to send individual card to each of our guests for them to indicate what they prefer? Did you guys put the meal choices on the place cards? How did you guys do yours?

On the rsvp card you can ask guests to initial their choice of entree. Initials (rather than a check mark) will help you to know which guest gets which entree. The venues usually require you to have place cards indicating the choice of entree for each guest. Pinterest has a dozens of ways you can do this: different colored cards, or ribbon,or wash tape, stickers or stamps, etc.

Ours was on our rsvp card as well. And yes plated would definitely be good for that many guests, good choice!

Most people include it on their RSVP card. For the big day you can do different colored place cards for each entree selection or some other kind of symbol on the card.

We asked guests to indicate the meal they wanted on their RSVP (one card per invite and they could check each however many of each meal they wanted). Our venue didn’t require that we indicate meal on the place card. Just however many of each meal at each table

I would ask your venue what they prefer. Our venue wants to know quantity for each dish, but they don't need a meal indication on each place card.

We added meal choices on the RSVP cards for guests to fill out.

We did online RSVPs so guests indicated who wanted which entree on our website when they RSVP’d. We are doing escort cards and we bought little gold stickers from Etsy to indicate meal choice. There is a gold chicken, gold cow, and gold vegetable.

If our couples have a choice of meal they need to have it indicated on the place card. Meal service is so smooth when it’s done this way. You know exactly how many of each choice is going to a table. But make it clear in the place card. Makes meal service so much easier. Also, I like when the couples have us put the place cards on the tables......this way they don’t get lost......left at cocktail hour. You would just need to have a display of the seating chart out during cocktail hour.
