Meal before ceremony?

Brittany, on November 17, 2024 at 10:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Hi all! I wanna pick your brains.
My wedding is destination so all of my guests will have to travel in advance to get to my wedding. The ceremony I would like to start at dusk... but I feel like to have the whole day go by then start the wedding would be a waste of their day/time. Would it be ridiculous to have the meal before the ceremony? Get people to mingle over that and some yard games, then snacks/desserts after the ceremony?

I mean it's not against etiquette, but I would be cautious because you'll have people eating and drinking and socializing. It might be tough to regroup folks for the ceremony after that.

I don’t see anything wrong with that, if that’s the way you want to go. I will say though, we also had an evening destination wedding, and our guests all went and did fun activities that day, prior to the ceremony and reception. It definitely was not a waste of day for them.

A bit off topic but that looks like a great engagement picture
