May 2nd and Covid-19

Mckenzley, on March 17, 2020 at 1:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 5

Hey guys. Who would have thought this virus would be our biggest worry while planning a wedding. This is unexpected and frankly pretty stressful. I have discovered my venue is closing for 4 weeks. If they close for longer I will be out of a venue. At first I was pretty stressed and upset. However, I feel I have some calming advice.

The most important part of this day is you and your significant other getting married. Professing your love for one another. This can still happen. Whether you have a hundred people there or ten. The reception and celebration can be postponed if need be.

I know this may seem like to simple of a solution. However, it has helped my anxiety and stress about this tremendously. It has reminded me of the true purpose of this day, the two of us. Not the cake, flowers, or stressing over the minute to minute timeline. But our love and love endures all.

Thank you for this. It’s so true and a needed reminder. My wedding is May 3rd and it’s at the end of the 7 week mark. I’m thinking of still having my ceremony and getting married surrounded by our immediate family only.

We are basically wedding twins! I hope things can go as we originally planned for us. However, I know we will both still have a beautiful day regardless. It makes me remember the saying, “the simpler the better.” I’m sure you and your family will unite and create a really amazing memory amongst this crazy time.

We had to postpone our 3/15 wedding but still decided to have a notary marry us with our dog on the day. It was perfect for us... Even if part of our family wasn't very happy we excluded them but we plan to have the full wedding now in November. But for us we had that moment between the two of us that no one can take away. And if you look on the bright side your wedding story will be a lot more interesting in 20 years than others.
