May 23rd Bride Here--guidelines for Reopening America & Postponing

Brittnee, on April 16, 2020 at 10:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 4

Well, we were holding on to our date and waiting to see how things turned out--while also securing a backup wedding date in September. I wanted to be wise and have a backup plan for later, but not be so ruled by my anxiety and fear that I called off our first date from sheer panic before we knew what their plan was to reopen. Lol.

Realistically, we would HAVE to know for sure that the wedding could go forward by May 1st, because I'd need that week to rework all our menu and event design decisions according to headcount; payments for food, bar, and event rentals are due May 9th.

That means the state of Florida would have to be in Phase 3 fourteen days from now. Which...isn't going to happen. So it looks like I'm joining the ranks of all you brides I've watched struggle on here the last few weeks. Let me just say it has been SO HARD to watch you ladies trudging through a time that is supposed to be so light-hearted and joyous, and I've been praying for all of us! Hoping we're all going to be okay and get our dream weddings eventually.

Did today's announcement postpone any other May brides out there?

    Hi Brittnee,

So sorry to hear that you most likely will have to postpone!! I am also in Florida, but July 17th is our date. I am still holding off and waiting to see how these new phases will go and how soon they will be moving to each phase. I believe for me, I need Florida to be at a Phase 2 by July 1st. My headcount is going to be under 50 and I do not have to turn in my count and last payment until July 3rd. So I am praying that Phase 2 can happen in less than 90 days.

I really hope your dream wedding can happen just as you imagined it, along with any bride having to postpone or pondering what to do next. Scariest part is the unknown and how this virus will keep playing out until there is a vaccine. Prayers for you and for every bride struggling with the COVID-19 crisis.

We were May 16 and we’re in California and there was no way we could move forward with a wedding with everything going and all the stress and anxiety of the unknown we knew it was the best decision the HARDEST decision to postpone to our new date in August ❤️ We feel more positive about it and we are going to elope just us on our original date! Unfortunately with everything going on in the world people aren’t going to feel comfortable attending during a pandemic and that’s what drove our decision! I know it sucks and unfair but sometimes things are out of our control! If I were you I would postpone to have peace of mind Smiley smile
