Max for a Buffet line.

Rebecca, on November 23, 2019 at 3:05 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Hi everyone, I am Just wondering what the max is for a wedding buffet. I know there is not a specific number but around what number does it start getting chaotic? I have about 85 people.

I think this really depends on your venue/caterer and how good they are at their jobs. We’ve been to weddings with 50 people and the buffet was chaos because there was only one line and the DJ released all the tables at the same time. We’ve also been to weddings with 200+ people and a buffet and it worked ok because there were 4 lines, tables were sent up 2-3 at a time and there was also a carving station to break up some of the line.

Thank you Sarah!! I will have to check with my venue to check if there is more then one line. Also make sure the DJ release by table numbers. Great advise! Thank you.

I think it depends on venue and organization. I’ve been to a 275 guest wedding where the DJ/emcee dismissed tables to the buffet and things stayed quite orderly.

We are having a buffet. The catering company employees will go around and release the tables. We will have 2 buffets that have a line on each side, so 4 all together. From what they have told me it works very smoothly with minimal fuss.

We had 100 people at our wedding and had a buffet. I don't think anyone had to wait too long. We had the DJ call up tables in groups. I think some people weren't really paying attention and didn't go up when their table was called but I don't think that was a numbers issue.

It could also help to have a two-lined buffet to help guests move through the line quicker!

We did a buffet with 125 people and it was fine. We just didn't release all them at once, we had people go up in tables since 125 people weren't waiting in line.

We are having around 150 guests and will be dismissing by tables to help keep the chaos down.
