Matching Groomsmen Ties and Bridesmaids Dresses

Kris, on August 31, 2018 at 3:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Do you think it’s too “matchy-matchy” for the bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen ties to be exactly the same color?

I feel like most people do that it's not too matchy.

I chose a floral tie where the flowers matched our coral and white bouquets and the background matched the girl's dresses. I was kind of scare of it but when I saw everyone together it worked so well!!

So that could be one way to do it if you didn't want to seem flat out matching.

Hi Kris! I don't think this is too much at all, in fact I think it looks really nice! The past weddings I've been to that is how the bridal party was! What color are they wearing?

That's what I'm planning on doing! My girls will be in dusty blue, the boys' ties will be the same. My fh will be wearing a burgundy tie.

I don't think it's too much of a match. My girls are in burgundy and the boys are in a navy suit with burgundy ties.

To me it’s a little prom-y but I know some people like that look. It’s all personal preference.

I am matching the vest, tie, and kerchief to my bridesmaid dresses. So no I do not think its too much. I also told mt intended if his groomsmen had issues he needed to find different groomsmen.

To me personally, it can look a little too prom. FH chose floral ones, there's a little bit of green in the GM ones that coordinate with the dresses and FHs one is more blue and white so coordinates with his suit and my dress. If he hadn't found patterned ones he liked then he would've chosen navy ones to go with their suits

My daughter’s didn’t do the matchy match thing to avoid looking like prom. They both went to prom with their grooms so that may have played a role in their decision. It’s personal preference though, so I would suggest googling images with the guys matching and not matching in your colors to see which you prefer.

Them men in our wedding party had ties and pocket squares that were the same color as the bridesmaid dress and I don't think it looked too matchy at all. I think when you get into the full tux with the matching cumberbund, tie, etc. is when it starts to look prom-like.

We are having a beach wedding and not doing ties, but my groomsmens' entire pants will match the bridesmaids LOL. (navy)

My girls are wearing coral dresses and the groomsmen are wearing navy suits and coral bowties. No vest and no cumberbund. I dont think it's too matchy.

I love it it’s cohesive and elegant. I guess I’m ocd or something but it irritates me a little when they don’t match unless the colors are just really complementary.

My girls are wearing black, but they are wearing fluffy petticoats that are matching the suspenders and bow ties of the GM. 😊 (it's a 50s themed wedding)

Heck no!! It's actually very common. That's what I'm doing!!! Bridesmaid dresses are a wine color, groomsmen suits are navy with wine ties!!! In my opinion that is the one way to make them coincide with each other!!
