Mason Jar Drinking Glasses

Hannah, on January 4, 2015 at 9:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

We are having about 200 people at our reception. We want mason jars for the drinking glasses but I'm not sure what direction I should take. I like the chalkboard stickers as a tag for ones name. However most mason jars have a pattern on both sides. I've seen mason jar like glasses that are blank but I don't know what we should do. What have you all been doing? Wide mouth glasses as well? We aren't looking for ones with handles.

Kerr mason jars have one side without a pattern, Wide mouth ones are easier to drink from.

That's what I'm doing but i'm using chalkboard paint. I got mine from amazon, It costed me $80 for 60 jars. But you could get a better deal in stores if you find the ones you are looking for.

I've been toying with this idea too...now would you have that person drink out of the same glass all night? Me, I'm the type of person that likes to switch up my beer/wine when I'm at a wedding. How does that work? Washing it out etc? That would also make a really cute wedding favor...

Check with your caterer, this was my caterer's only drinking glass (from their services) option.... I didn't really want mason jars, but I'm going to play them up with some fun patterned straws.

    Webstraunt.com (i think....its similar) has awesome glasses.

I didn't do chalkboard paint. I wasn't sure how that would hold up to condensation. I did stickers, though, and they held up great

I got mine from Webstraunt.com as well. They are really nice with the handles but they sell one without handles! I got some chalkboard stickers and markers and so far so good. I did a condensation test with one of them.

My cousin just had a tag that was string tied around the top of the jar with a tag to write on...plus it makes it easier to resell if people don't take them home with them.

I purchased mine from websturant and love them, now just know that being so cheap they do have flaws as far as lil bubbles in the glass and lil imperfections that really no one will notice, plus every glass that came in broke they sent replacements in no time, all I did was take pics and send them email and they immediately shipped the replacements ....I also printed my own labels and bought the chalk labels from hobby lobby 1/2 off...attached are some pics...not the best but just what I have on my phone....the one with the chalk label above is just a regular Kerr jar that I tested in the dishwasher just to see how they would hold up while I was awaiting my jars to arrive.....the pic is after it was washed and still looks AWESOME...now granted I doubt they will last 100 washes but who would expect it to....so all said and done I have 150 labeled mason jars for $140, still under $1 each....hopes this somewhat helps :-)

I got my jars from jarstore.com. They have a lot of different kinds. Probably not the best price but they were packaged nicely and none of them were broken.

I found mason jars at walmart and the have the brand of the jar on one side and then on the other it is blank. I am trying to etch an anchor and our intials on them but it is not working out it is very faint. You can google mason jars and there are several sites for you to research. I am giving them to guest as well for drinks and gifts!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your responses. I was able to order Kerr mason jars from Kmart. I joined their member club and got a dollar off each case and then there was a 10% off coupon. I was able to get each jar for 64 cents and free shipping to store. I ordered it monday morning and got an email Tuesday when I woke up that they were ready for pick up. Very pleasant experience! I am sure I might have been able to find it cheaper but the free to store shipping sold me.
