Masks Required..?

Samantha, on May 24, 2020 at 12:01 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 4
So Long Island and Western NY is supposed to enter phase 1 next week per gov. Cuomo. Woo! However..... how is everyone feeling about the probability of having to wear masks at your wedding?.... I literally cringe at the thought. My FH and I refuse to postpone for many reasons and might get stuck having to have this wedding bc of our contract... what are your plans if masks are required for you and your guests!?

I imagine masks are going to be part of life until we get a vaccine.

Could you find a way to make wedding-themed masks happen?

Ehh, im not even going to get into my thoughts on the safety of a vaccine being developed in a 6 month to yr time frame. The fastest vaccine ever developed was for mumps and that took 4 years. So if your thinking people are going to wear masks for their weddings for the next 4 yrs, idk...

I did think about themed masks for our guests to have for an option if they wanted to wear one though. I read one article saying that people in the industry were guessing masks would be mandatory for the staff of the venue and caterers, etc, but optional for guests. Idk. Nobody does at this point still I suppose..
If masks do end up mandatory for guests though, probably means we would have to cancel and deal with the consequences that come along with it.

My FH is cringing at the thought too, but more so over the thought of people possibly getting sick and infected as a result of being exposed at our wedding. We would much rather put people’s safety first and are going to provide masks and hand sanitizer for everyone.

I have the same feelings on the vaccine. technically masks are only required when social distancing isnt possible. i could see how we could avoid wearing masks for most of the night. im not going around greeting people. they know the deal.
