Mask 😷 on Mask 😷 off to be determined

Margarie, on June 10, 2020 at 7:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 19
We are still just playing it by ear and wondering if our guest list of 32 will have to come down a bit more and if we will still be wearing mask in September. We go for our food tasting this weekend and will definitely be wearing them then. Safety is our priority first I just wish I knew so we could go ahead and order wedding day mask if need be.

It's hard to tell. even if they weren't needed, people might still want to actually wear them anyway

I am definitely okay with people doing whatever is in the name of safety I’m just confused on what we will do. By the first week of August if we still feel the same about what’s going on in the world we will order disposable mask for our guests and more ornate mask for ourselves and wedding party

Let your guests choose if they can. My venue gave us a list of rules. Most are workable. Masks are not on the list. But I imagine some will choose to wear. Personally they give me panic attacks and make me feel claustrophobic. So for me its hard to wear one, if a place requires them I just don't go there

If it’s a mandatory thing still in our state we are not giving people the option to choose too many others would be at risk. If it’s at an optional point then if people want to choose we are okay with them doing whatever makes them feel comfortable.

It might be good to look at your state's reopening plan. In Massachusetts, masks are still going to be a thing until there's a vaccine or effective treatment.

Some will wear them and some won’t. Other guests may not come but it just depends on what’s happening in the fall and you won’t know that yet.

All of our guests have rsvp’d and reserved their rooms so we know they’re coming. If it’s mandatory still everyone will be asked to wear them for their own safety as well as others. That is why I say I wish we knew so l could order more ornate masks for the wedding party and regular ones for our guests now.

I would order them now. Even if they aren't mandatory, offering them would be a really nice gesture and normalize it for anyone who wants to wear one. I think the mask wedding favor idea is really cute, too! I would definitely use a nice mask from a friend's wedding.

I have no problem with my guests wearing masks but as the bride I would hate to wear one. I would like to think they would make an exception for the bride and groom. They say the mask does protect yourself not just others so if everyone else is wearing one I don’t see why we would need to

I would be okay if guests wore masks if they preferred but I would hate it to be a requirement to have guests at my wedding.

I don't mind wearing one if need be just what I would wear has to be ordered. And because I like to plan the sooner I know the better.

We are requiring all of our guests to wear masks and we will be providing them if they don't have one. We are sending a note with our invitations saying this so people know in advance. My fh and I will be wearing them most of the night also, besides to eat and drink. Our guest list is about 100 right now. We feel like we need to protect the people that are high risk that we really want to be there. We are also having a small ceremony with the high risk people and having everyone else come for the reception.

Masks protect others more than the mask wearer, so I don't see why a bride and groom would be the exception in a place where masks were required. That would be making a very strong statement that the bride and groom cared more about themselves than their guests and that would come across as very hurtful. Better to postpone the event if it's not safe to forgo masks.

Yea thats not true actually. thats why governor cuomo said the healthcare workers, like myself, have the lowest rates of infection because the masks DO protect the wearers. so theres no reason why the bride and groom would need to wear masks if everyone else is wearing one and Im sure the guests would understand that. I wouldnt be going within 6 feet of anyone except for my FH who already had covid.

I agree the mask do work. I really have no problem wearing one. We do now when we go out in public now even though a lot of people here have stopped wearing them. Whatever it takes for everyone to be protected we are all for it.
