Mary Kay Pampering Party?!

Catherine & Nick, on May 3, 2015 at 9:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I went to a Bridal Show today, even though I have booked most of my major vendors already. I went crazy signing up to win free stuff, and just received a text message saying I won a Mary Kay Microdermabrasion Pampering Session and Bridal Swag Bag. Should I go for it? I know they will definitely push their products on me, but will the pampering session itself be worth it?

It's not Smiley sad I went, they give you a couple products to use on yourself but it's mostly to get you to host a party or sign up to sell.

I think every bride I know has been told they "won" a pampering session. It's a Mary Kay party plain and simple. Although I like some Mary Kay products so whats it gonna hurt.

My friend won and got to invite some friends. It was fun, but I agree it's more to get you to buy their products or become a rep.

I won too. Back in January. She is still trying to get me to 'claim my prize.'

Totally not worth it. When I found out I won it sounded so fun but all it was was a sales pitch. I thought we would actually be getting pampered and she would do a facial and hand treatment but we did it ourselves and after we were all done she asked if I liked the hand products and I said yes and she was like ok so you're getting package 7 and package 8 today that'll be 80 dollars and I was like whoa whoa no I just said I liked them I'm not buying them today. I was basically guilted into buying something though.

I'm definitely a sucker for buying stuff even if I don't need it... Looks like I have to decline the offer! Thanks for the info ladies!

I "won" back in college when they would come to the fairs we had on campus, why they targeted college students I don't know, it's not like we could buy that much stuff! Of course being young we thought we won a cool prize, she came to my apartment, gave us some products to try on ourselves, and then basically tried to sell us stuff. I felt bad and bought something but it was totally not what I expected. IMO not worth it...

Sooooo my MOB just became a Mary Kay rep... And ACTUALLY tried selling the lady that came over to do my make up trial some Mary Kay products... It was so embarrassing... My Mob actually dumped her bag of samples on the counter and told her to use them instead of the professional make up. I was like whoaaaa mom, just stop.

I won four of these after I went to a bridal show - two of them within the same month. It's definitely a sales pitch. I'm glad I didn't waste a Saturday doing one.

I think it depends on who you won it from. I had one and the lady did a facial, makeup and nails. The products had always been good quality. I don't wear make up so her profit from me would be minimal at best. She did a really good job though.

I think it's like the David's Bridal stories that we hear. Some people put them at a table with satan and others want to put them on a pedestal. It's all in who you get.

It's the marketing device they use.

As a Mary Kay consultant, it’s Unfortunate that people can be pushy and not just use it as a time to pamper and allow the brides and the guest to experience the product and choose for themselves. People should definitely not be trying to get you to join their team unless it’s a good fit for whomever ( and honestly I’m really picky about who I will work with).

I definitely agree it’s who you get it! Our products are amazing and it could be a really fun experience. I’m all about creating the pamper session and not pushing the product. There is definitely a balance between being excited about your business and being pushy.
