Marvel (avenger) Geeks! Where ya at?!

Brooke, on October 22, 2019 at 2:14 PM Posted in Style and Décor 2 21

My fiance and I are HUGE Avenger fans. We would love to somehow include some ties to the characters, movies, etc. somehow but at the same time, we don't want it to be too cheesy! Suggestions/ideas?

Could you use them in the table names? The Iron Man Table, the Black Widow Table, etc? Or name the tables after places in the movies/comics? Use Funko Pops as your cake toppers or parts of your centerpieces? Make paper flowers out of comic pages?

Undershirts or socks....I bride recently did something like that...but it could have been school/college related. I like PP idea of table numbers. Also could incorporate it into the cake (turn the cake around and bam marvel galore). Have then men wear tony stark glasses.

Here are some ideas that you might like. It would include the Marvel theme you like without being over the top or cheesy.

I second all of this! We did a “happily ever after Disney world” theme and it wasn’t cheesy at all. We did rides as the tables and came out good.

We're big Disney nerds, but we didn't want a Disney-themed wedding. Here are our Disney touches for our reception:

Cake topper with Mr. & Mrs. _____ and Minnie/Mickey heads

Sign at welcome table: "And they lived happily ever after"

    Entering to "Friend Like Me"

My FH is a huge Marvel fan and we’re also planning on incorporating it into our wedding. Our wedding is a few years away so nothing is set yet, but the idea is to have the groomsmen wear undershirts and socks of different heroes. Some comic book confetti spread along the tables. Maybe a hidden backside cake. I’m making some paper flowers out of comic books (not sure if I’ll use them yet just practicing at the moment). And he loved this ring when he saw it so it is one of the few wedding things purchased already.

I absolutely loved my corsage made from comics. The seller also makes bouquets and boutonnieres.

I also love the idea of using figures and/or table names. There's also the option of a cake topper. Now that I'm thinking about this, I wonder if someone makes custom comics that you can have your guests sign with your own story and characters. Now I want to see if I can find something like that for our 1st anniversary. Or, find a favorite comic artist to do a custom piece that guests can sign which you can hang after the wedding.

I got a custom comic book for my FH from MagicMadePossible on Etsy. He proposed to me first but I wanted to do something special for him too so it had pictures from our relationship and the last box said will you marry me? And I stuck the silicone ring I got for him between the pages. He loved it.

What about using songs from the movies during your ceremony? Guardians of the Galaxy in particular has a fab soundtrack. We are having instrumental versions of Hooked on a Feeling and Mr Blue Sky for signing the register and the recessional

I like the idea of naming your tables after places or people in the MCU. We are doing a book theme and doing something similar. Our tables are named after locations in our favourite books and the centrepieces will be stacks of books topped with little model of the locations we are making ourselves . For example, one of our tables will be called The Pumpkin Patch with a little model of Hagrid’s pumpkin patch topping the centrepiece 🎃

We did a Harry Potter themed wedding.

So, some things that we did to encorporate (which you can do for marvel, too -- I'm a huge marvel fan but the husband is DC).

    - We added drink names like Amorentia, Wolfsbane, etc for alcoholic beverages.

    - Table names were after creatures instead of the normal "number" system.

    - My flowers were pages from the HP books and had all 4 house colors in it, the bridesmaids all had flowers that represented their house and their dress matched their house too (red, green, blue, yellow) and it matched with the groomsmen they were paired with and the groomsmen had the vest color of the house. I went through etsy for this: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LiteraryBouquets she does lovely work and I live in Missouri and it only took like 3 weeks to get here from the UK, but I still ordered them 3 months out.

    - I gave all of my guests a 'wand' as a wedding favor and had a honeydukes table.

    - Our cake topper said "We solemnly swear we're up to no good"

    -

    For Marvel you can...

    - Have groomsmen wear shirts underneath their suit that have a symbol on them and/or you can give them cufflinks that are themed, even socks.

    - Name your tables after superhero names, species (Mutant, Asgardian, Human, Skrull, Kree, Valkyrie, Frostgiants, etc) or even organizations (SHIELD, HYDRA, Weapon X, Ten Rings, etc)

    - Theme your cake topper after it if you're going more traditional for cake.

    - Put some Avengers/Marvel music in your seating music or even ceremony. Can put some in your reception, too! Might be fun.

    - Name your drinks cool things like Hulk Punch (could be a hurricane), Stormbreaker (blue long island), The Fury (old fashioned), The Capsicle (red/white/blue daiquiri) etc. Just some ideas for drink names/ideas.

    - Centerpieces themed marvel with some comic strips or like "Bam" "Zap", etc.

There's a lot of ways to get it in. Enjoy yourselves!

I've always loved the classic super hero undershirt pics with the groomsmen! I've also seen bouquets made out of comics (print them so you don't damage the precious and expensive books!!!) But I LOVE choosing your favorite characters for Funko Pop toppers. Cap and Peggy, Tony and Pepper, Carol and Sam... So many to choose from. We're thinking about doing Nendoroids from our favorite anime!

I went to a wedding and the husband was a big Marvel fan. Their escort cards were movie tickets for Marvel movies and the tables were named after the movies. It didn’t come across as cheesey.
