Martin Thornburg Mon Cheri Dress

So first, I bought a dress right after Thanksgiving. I was absolutely in love with Mon Cheri's Leisl. It was between that one and Mon Cheri's Wyomia. Beautiful dresses. But I chose Leisl I was happy and excited. And then the very next day I got an email from the shop that the company would not be able to make the dress due to not enough material. They did have a size in the warehouse, but its 6 sizes too small. They could alter it, but that would cost a lot and change the entire structure of the dress. Or they could transfer the money I spent from the dress I bought to my second choice. And even though the dress is beautiful, now I feel like I'm being forced to buy a dress and that makes me super anxious and not want the dress at all.
Then she told me that they will be getting more dresses in, in January and I'm welcome to come back when they come in. Sending me the styles they are getting and and just letting me know how willing she is to work with me to get me in the perfect dress. (Thank God for small boutiques)
So I go online and I look at the dresses she tells me, she is getting in and then I start looking at the other dresses from the same company.
I end up falling in love with the dress "Gina" by Mon Cheri. It lookes like it's everything I loved about my first 2 choices for dresses mixed in one. So I contacted the shop and asked if they were planning on getting Gina at any point. She told me no, they were not getting that dress but since it's Mon Cheri they could still order it.

Now Im stuck. Do I order from the dresses I've tried on that I've been able to see in person and touch and dance in or do I order a dress that I've never seen but completely in love with the picture?
Has anyone seen or know someone who has gotten the dress Gina from Mon Cheri?
I added the pictures of it.
Any insight or advice would be helpful. Thank you.

This dress is beautiful I’m relatively risk-averse so I’d personally be hesitant to purchase a gown I hadn’t tried on in person. A dress might not look the same on me as it does in a picture, it might not be comfortable, or a whole host of other things.

You could call other boutiques that carry this designer and see if they will have this dress to try on? That is what I did because my dresses sample was striped and I wanted to see it in ivory. Ended up being difficult to track down but in the end I found it. Good luck!

I would try to find it at another boutique to try on. Also check out the designer's trunk shows to see if there will be any near you.

I agree with the other ladies. Call around and see if any other boutique has it. I’m not a huge risk taker lol so I’m not sure if i would buy without a try😊

Some boutiques and designers allow you to order dresses to try on (there is usually some small fee to it). I know Casablanca has an option to have the dress ordered to the store (a sample dress) so you can try it on before actually purchasing it. I think Maggie Sottero is the same. Check the policy of your designer to see if you can do something like that

I ordered a dress that was emailed sketches lol

i think you have to know yourself on this one

if you love it and its a mix of what you’ve tried on I think it’s a safe bet

i would ask about order and return policy

maybe boutique is willing to order it for stock? Or has a return/exchange policy?

and I’d try to seek it out locally to try on

but if all that failed and I still was saying to myself but I love it I would still order it lol

The only problem is not very many shops in my area carry this desginer. When looking at the list maybe one other place has it and I'm waiting for a message back.

I want to say it looke like the wymoia that I tried on. Minus the sequencs
The pictures are of me in the Wyomia, my original second choice. And I love how it fits. I just don't like having the full bodice of beading.. I wanted more lace. Which is why I went with my original. And why I'm leaning towards Gina.

Mon Cheri unfortunately does not do a loaner dress. You have to buy it before ordering. And like most boutiques there is a no return policy. My first dress I'm getting an exception, she is willing to return it because they weren't able to make it. So if I order it and it's not what I want I'm stuck. And it would seem that the only 2 other stores that carry this designer are about 2 hours away. Which might be worth looking at if they do happen to have it. I think one of them is actually have a trunk show in February, so maybe I can see if they will have it.

If you really love the dress in the picture, try finding it somewhere else to try on or something similar from Mon Cheri. I'd be wary of purchasing it without trying it on too but that dress is honestly soo GORGEOUS!!

I just wanted to post a update this is the dress I ended up getting. It is also a Martin thornburg mon cheri dress. My first dress didn't work out. But it was a blessing because I ended up finding the perfect dress. ❤
