Married in the middle of the week?

Maggie, on April 23, 2017 at 10:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

I want to get married on Halloween this year but it's in the middle of the week. My fiancé thinks it's a bad idea. What do you think?

I believe there is already a thread on this; I'd find it.

In short, people with little kids won't come.

    Mid weeks are always tough

I'd do it the weekend before or after; I've done a lot of Halloween weddings, but never during the week.

If you are getting married at a courthouse with family, sure.

If you want to have a reception with friends, I would pick a weekend or at least a Friday.

Definitely would not recommend a middle of the week wedding.

Bad idea because it's midweek and guests with kids will most likely not come. It's a cool idea though just not good because it's midweek. I'd have the wedding the week before or after

I've heard of it being done, and a friend of mine is actually planning on doing this too. As long as you're ready for a lot of no's on your RSVPs and a small reception, I don't see anything wrong with it.

If guests are all local, I think it would be fine. You can adjust the day-of timeline to accomodate guests' schedules as best as you can. Even then, realise that you will have more declines than a weekend wedding.

I say do what you want to do. Just be prepared to have a lot of people decline for various reasons. But in the end it is about you and FH. If people want to be there, they will find a way. I know if it were one of my children, I would be there no matter where or when. Good luck.

You just have to prepare yourself for more declines.

If any of your guests are parents, and they normally take their children trick-or-treating, they won't be coming. Unless of course you turn your wedding into a big 'ole Halloween party...

I think it's asking a lot of people to come to a weekday wedding, especially on a Tuesday and they have to travel. People have varying amounts of limited PTO and they'd need to use a pretty good chunk of it to travel for that. I wouldn't think it's worth inconveniencing your guests tbh.

I'd likely not attend a mid week wedding as a guest (unless family) Halloween or not

Well, mine is happening on a Tuesday this year - everyone is well aware it is a weekday wedding and are more than happy to be part of it. I have a very odd schedule so having a weekday wedding is not odd at all to me....again, to ME and MY lifestyle....everyone else is retired or they too need a day off (or two).

Depends on your guests as PP have said. If you want a big halloween party vibe saving it for the weekend is probably best. If your guests and your FH are cool with it then go for it.

Are you thinking of having a traditional wedding with guests and dancing and drinking and all that? My DH and I considered doing a mid-week wedding when we were planning, but we knew literally none of our guests except our parents would show up. We ended up getting married on a Monday but we scratched all of our plans and eloped instead so it worked for us. Good luck!

As long as you're ready for a lot of no's if any of your guests have kids or are from out of town. Lots of people really love Halloween too and I can't imagine spending Halloween at a wedding but that's just me. It sounds like a lot of fun! Just a shitty day it fell on :/

I love the middle of the week. It's different and a lot cheaper. Just give people lots of notice. This will allow guests to rearrange their school and work schedules.

Depends on your guest list. I would vote no but thats because I know my guests.
