You will have to look up the requirements for your state, the other states and the countys... I live in Memphis, TN but we are getting married in Franklin, TN (right outside of Nashville) and we have to get our marriage license in Franklin, or we cannot get legally married there!

If you want to get married in a different state, I'm pretty sure you have to get your license in that state. Some may even require you to get the license in the county you are marrying.

It looks like in Maryland you need to get the license in the county you want to get married, but in New Jersey, the license is valid statewide. Call and double check.

You would have to get the license in the state you're getting married in for most all states. You'll have to check with the local courts for exact requirements.

In general it's only good in the state, sometimes county you're getting married in. I'd call and ask.

I do believe that you get the license in the State you are Getting Married In.

Most likely you need your license in the state you are getting married. We are from MD and PA but got married in FL and had to go there for our license.

This. And I know in Illinois, you have to get your license in the COUNTY where you hold your ceremony. So even though we live in Cook County (Chicago) we had to travel all the way to the courthouse in DuPage County (about 40 minutes away) to get our license.
