Hi! My FH and I are having a non-traditional wedding. Since we are both Chinese we are doing a tea ceremony and a reception after. Since we both aren't religions (we both are somewhat buddhist though), we wouldnt be married by a pastor or anything.
Our original plan was to go to the courthouse 2 weeks before the wedding and sign our marriage license. I know at some weddings that don't have religious ceremonies there is an officiant. Is this required? Or can we simply just go down to the courthouse, sign the paper and be officially married?
I read a post somewhere that after someone signed their marriage certificate it expired before their wedding... not sure what this means? After getting the certificate do you have to get it signed by someone else too?
I just assumed when signing your marriage certificate you just need 1 or 2 witnesses.
