Does anyone know if you have to obtain the license with the county the venue is in, or is where you live? Or does it not matter? I live in a different county than my fiance and our venue is also a different county.

This depends on your state. Some states allow you to obtain the license in any county. Some require you obtain the license in the county you’ll be having the ceremony in.

I’m curious about this as well! My fiancé and I live in NYC but are getting married in Pennsylvania. I would suggest speaking to whomever is officiating your wedding, if you’ve found that person yet.

This will vary state by state. According to the NY Department of Health, you can get it in any city in the state. I got that from this website: https://health.ny.gov/publications/4210/

Brittany, I would assume you would need to file in Pennsylvania because you typically need to apply in the state you are planning to get married in.
