Marriage Certificate

I got married on May 4th and I was wondering how long it takes to get your marriage certificate in PA and in general. I would like to start the name change process and can’t until I have our certificate.

Have you requested a copy with the county clerk? I don’t live in PA but that’s what I had to do in my state, they don’t automatically send it to you.

I don’t actually know how things go in PA. I can’t necessarily find anything online either.

We were married in MD and had our marriage certificate waiting for us at the county offices when we got back from our cruise the Thursday after. I'd think yours should be ready by now. Check in with the clerk's office like Kelly said, and I'd recommend getting at least 3 copies to have on hand.

Were in TN, we got ours 2 weeks later. It was much faster than I thought as I was expecting about a month. You're right at a month. Monday I'd give the county clerk a call.

Call the clerk where it would’ve been filed.
For us in MA, our officiant said it would likely be ready in about a week....but, nothing actually happens automatically (they didn’t call that it was there and they didn’t mail it). After about a week or so I called and they said that yes, it was available— we could request copies for $10/each, and could either come pick them up in person, or we could send them a self addressed stamped envelope that they would mail back with the requested&paid for copies in it.

I am in PA and our officiant brought the unofficial one, but we had to go to the courthouse in the county where we filed it to get the recorded copy.
