Convalidation is the correct word. Our marriage is not recognized in a Catholic church meaning were are not married through the eyes of God and we want it to be. The reason why we married in a court house is because of the family stress and the negativity that was on us during the planning process. at the end of the day we sat down and asked one another "is this really what you want" both said yes.

UMMMM I have never heard of it and I thought that once you were married that was it, but since I have never heard of it I think it would be best to ask the Catholic church people what to wear. Me myself would say to wear blue jeans or casual clothes.

Are you inviting people to witness?

If not, I would just dress nicely as if you were going to church.

Sorry what I meant was, I can't tell if you're having a reception and/or treating this as a big vow renewal type party.........in which case I would dress as if it's your wedding. But if it's just going to be the two of you and the priest or a handful of witnesses, I would just dress in church clothes.

Were inviting family. Not too sure on who would come besides the one's who don't approve of our marriage. It's something like a vow renewal ceremony. I planned on putting my dress back on because i love it oh so much! and husband was going to wear a tux or something nice in that nature! I'm going to schedule an appointment. i'm really excited about this =]

Check with your priest.....but I believe they will encourage you to dress as nicely as possible and that means your wedding dress! After all, this is the ceremony where you are inviting God to join into your marriage - and you want to dress your best for him!

Whether you believe or not, it's a lovely thing to do, and I hope that it will make you and your husband feel even more special about your commitment to each other.

I agree with you ^^^ I'm Catholic and hubby's not but he will be soon. lol we had a very long talk about this last night and I explained to him why I wanted to do this for us and he agree's with me too. Were both very excited. The priest told me to give him a call back Monday so we can get the paperwork going and all the other stuff. I will let you guys know what's going on and the description of the ceremony as soon as we find out...
