Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Washington is able to predict divorce with 94% of accuracy. Gottman found that couples who use these behaviors on a regular basis are headed towards divorce:

1. Criticism

2. Contempt

3. Defensiveness

4. Withdrawal

    I agree that these are big marital red flags. All of those behaviors really harm a marriage!

    They are harmful no matter what. So of corse they will be harmful in a marriage.

    A unhappy marriage is what leads to divorce. They are also red flags for abuse. Plus is mental abuse.

    100% I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and I utilize Gottman Method with couple’s counseling 85% of the time. They also have something called The Sound Relationship House- basically, if you do not have the main foundations of trust, commitment, and love maps (aka Knowing your partner) your relationship is not steady enough to build upon. I recommend for EVERY couple to download their cards on their phone (Gottman love decks, it’s red with two hearts) they have questions for every part of the relationship house and some spicy ones for the bedroom (you don’t have to do those, but look into it 👍🏻)
