Marina Village & Moniker San Diego ca

Melissa, on September 20, 2019 at 7:49 AM Posted in California Planning 0 9

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Question, I am planning this event all the way from Boston for my wedding in San Diego. Has anyone every gotten married at Marina Village? Then specifically has anyone getting married in the Bay View room?

I am going to reserve this venue today, and am worried between choosing Marina or the Moniker.

Please anyone help or suggest. I picture about 100-130 people at my wedding My concerns for both is Bayview room is for 250 people and I am worried it will look empty. The Moniker is smaller and has capacity but also do not like that I will have a lawn ceremony.

Please advise as this girl needs help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all in advance Smiley smile

Marina Village and Moniker aren’t that far from one another but they have two different looks/styles… Which I’m sure you saw online. Marina Village is a large area of conference rooms that sit on the bay where you can see water and boats. But… Marina Village is older. While Moniker is located more in the downtown area. With that, sometimes parking becomes an issue

The Bayview room is one of the few that sits directly on the outside near the water. But It might help for a staff member to FaceTime with you so you can truly see each of the venues from the outside and inside. Personally, I prefer moniker. A lot of people like to use Marina Village because it’s definitely less expensive for San Diego on the water, and I believe you can still bring in your own catering options.

Just curious, are those the only two venues in San Diego that you liked?

Thank you so much for responding! Again been tough planning from afar. We are on a extreme budget and these are the ones that we found the cheapest and be reasonable. We want to bring our own catering and alcohol. We checked out public parks which were awesome locations, but there is too much work: porta potties, lighting, canopy rentals and etc.

So I actually had family and friends go check out both venues and they said both is great. I just have pros and cons for both.

Our wedding list should be around 100-130. So the bayview room is big its for 250 people. So we are concerned with the extra space. Moniker looks too small and just does not have the outdoor ceremony. That is why I am so conflicted between both. I love the rustic at moniker, but like the outdoor at marina.

I booked Marina Village Bayview room for my wedding next year! It fits total of 200 ppl downstairs and 50 upstairs. I don't believe it will look empty if you split the tables to about 8 ppl per table. I love that the space has high ceilings and a kitchen so we can put our drinks and ice to cool.

Alma, thank you for these tips!!!!!!! I wonder if we can just have games and such upstairs since there is no way we will have 250 guest. Are you having 250 people? Also, what are you doing for the catering? I have been in talk with Ranch, but I really want my moms friend to cook tacos for us outside. Just like the package Ranch gives. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes its a pretty good size space if you take the tables out. I am not sure if I will be having a photo booth yet but if we do it will be set up there as well. It fits even with the 5 tables.

I am inviting the full capacity due to having large families but I really hope we can cut it down to have our guest at 8 ppl per table.

Now for catering due to our budget we were going to do home style BBQ but my in-laws decided to assist and ask a family friend to make chicken cordon bleu. I think the tacos would be amazing, that was actually my first choice.

How much are you willing to invest in food?

Given the info you shared, I would select Marina Village. If you have a number of people coming from Boston, then they will at least experience the San Diego vibe being near the water, etc. Also, it’s better to have more space than too little. Plus, there are ways you can arrange the room so that it won’t look empty.

If I’m not mistaken, your catering still has to be licensed. But things could’ve changed and I may be wrong

Well, most of my family is in San Diego but yes his family isnt from there and from all over so I am sure they would appreciate water and warmness. Thank you for your tips and comments! Seriously was going crazy between both locations.

Also, will call about the license requirement to make sure of it.
