March/april Brides - Marriage License

Danica, on March 18, 2020 at 12:51 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Hi All!

Just a thought....and I'm thinking of it because we are doing this today.

If possible, go ahead and get your marriage license!! That way you have it!

As of now our venue is not closing, so we are moving forward with our 3/29 wedding date since everyone is local. We are going today to get the license, so if for some reason everything in Arizona should close (our city hasn't shut down yet), we at least have that. Arizona it's valid for a year from the date you pick it up.

Just something to think about to be prepared, and one less thing to worry about on your list!

I would say this depends. In my state (New Hampshire) gatherings of more than 25 are discouraged at this time and the CDC recommends gatherings of no more than 50 people until the weekend of May 16th at this point (8 week recommendation makes that the first weekend after the current guidelines end). In NH marriage licenses are good for 90 days. So I would say don't get it too early if you aren't certain you'll be able to have your wedding as planned.

Our wedding is currently scheduled for 5/30/20 and we do not plan on getting our license until after the 50 person CDC restrictions have lifted and we are certain we will actually be getting married on that date.

In California our marriage licenses are only good for 90 days. Also, all non-emergency city/county offices are shut in our area which we completely understand.

I understand everyone is stressed and freaked out but remember that by following the CDC guidelines we can hopefully "Flatten the Curve" and help more people out in the process.

In Florida they are good for 60 days and we're coming up on that time frame pretty soon, so I'm trying to call/email and find out if we're able to get our license or if all the non-essential things are being suspended right now.

I guess in as we are lucky with being able to have 12 months. But do what is best for you and your situation. As for us I am getting married on sat. Since we still have an officiant we can still get married. Just a smaller setting

We’re in PA (ML is only valid for 60 days) but we’re getting married on our date (May 2nd) come hell or high water. It will be us and our immediate family (no more than 10 people) and we’ll do the bigger party when we can celebrate safely. We applied for our license yesterday just in case the courthouses here close, which was a huge fear for me, as it could completely derail everything.
