Man of Honor Question, Advice!?

Ruth, on January 24, 2020 at 11:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So my longest and bestest friend is a man. My FH has no problem with him, our friendship, or including him in our wedding. My dilemma is deciding what side for him to be on. I originally wanted him on my side. I have 1 female maid of honor, 1 female bridesmaid, and 1 female jr. bridesmaid. He will have his father, and 2 best friends. So that leaves my BFF. It's more about aesthetics here. Would it look weird if he was on my side? I've only been to one wedding in my life so I don't really know what's "acceptable". I would love for him to be on my side, but we have no problem with him being on FH's side either. Just seeking opinions/advice. TIA Smiley smile

It wouldn't look weird at all to have your best friend on your side.

Your friend your side! I have at least one if not two guys on my side and my husband was going to have one woman on his side ( she can’t make it but for good reasons) nothing weird about it at all 😊

It would be weird (and rude) not to let your best friend stand next to you because of their gender. You also don’t get to choose your FH’s groomsmen.

Put him on your side! He is your best friend and he should stand next to you. I had my best guy friend on my side and he looked great standing up there with all the ladies Smiley smile

Oh we're definitely not choosing each other's parties. He can have whoever he'd like, it just so happens that's he's having 3 males, but I wouldn't care if there was a female on his side. He has no problem with my BFF being next to me. I was just wondering what was more common in this situation, because it's not the "norm". I love my BFF, and will more than likely have him next to me.

He should and can absolutely be on your side! It would look more weird for him not to be up there with you.

He should definitely be on your side since he’s your BF. It won’t look weird at all and it’s very common now.

Not at all. He's your best friend, so in my eyes it would be weirder if he was on your FH's side rather than yours.

I had a small bridal party but if one of my bridesmaids declined the offer, I was going to ask a mail friend of mine, and was cool with him being on my side.

My best friend is also a male, and he will definitely be standing by me for our ceremony. He’s been by my side through everything in my life for the past 16 years, so I couldn’t imagine him anywhere else during such an important event in my life.
