Male "Bridesmaid"

SpringyAprilBride2016, on March 15, 2015 at 5:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Does anyone have a male in their bridal party? I'm considering having one of my male friends as an honor attendant but wanted to hear about how other people handled the logistics of it. Such as getting ready, bachelorette party, etc.

I asked my brother to be my man of honor (and then I have 2 female bridesmaids.) We don't have all of the logistics planned out yet, but he will most likely:

-Wear whatever suit the groomsmen are wearing

-Have a bout. that matches the bridesmaids bouquets (no idea what we're actually doing about flowers yet, so it may end up looking like the other groomsmen, and I'm fine with that)

-Get ready early then come for the finishing touches after I'm dressed but before the first look

-He really wants to come to the shower and bachelorette party, and I'm fine with that as long as he's cool being the only guy

For walking down the aisle, we're not 100% sure since FH hasn't decided on groomsmen yet. If he only has 2 groomsmen, then I will have my BMs and Brother walk down alone while groomsmen and FH wait at the "altar" (not actually at a church) Then BMs will pair off with GMs as we leave, and my brother will escort my grandmother out.

If there was an extra BM, then he would just walk out with one of them instead.

Do whatever works for you. There are not hard an fast rules (except I heard something about some churches might not be cool a guy standing up for the bride

FH is having a BW, we're having here wearing a gray dress to match the tuxes. We gave her the choice between gray and fuschia to match the BMs and she opted for gray. As for bachelor party, FH doesn't really want one, but since I'm still pretty close to BW she's invited to mine. She'll be getting ready with the groom for the most part, joining the girls for hair and makeup .

My brother is my man of Honour. He's wearing a navy suit to match the navy bridesmaid dresses and the same tie as the groomsmen (they're wearing grey suits). My brother is golfing with the guys the morning of the wedding but getting ready with us girls afterwards. He isn't planning/attending the shower or bachelorette but is helping pay for both (my girls are doing the planning). So far everything's working out great!!

My brother is my man of honor. He'll wear a suit that matches either the bridesmaids or the groomsmen.

I think he'll split the getting ready time. And he's welcome to party with me and FH. My brother is the most likeable person ever.
