Making My Own Shoes

Polly, on April 10, 2020 at 7:17 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Originally, I was going to wear boots to my wedding. I'm a horse-girl and we're getting married in a barn so boots just seem natural. The only down-side was that the pair I really like was a teenie over my budget so, I was onto my next idea. I love glitter and blue and found a blue pair of heels I thought would be perfect, but they were online and I have a hard time in certain heels so I need to make sure I can walk in them before I buy them. THEN my fiance had the brilliant idea of buying a pair of heels I KNOW I can walk in and glittering them up myself. I loved the idea so much I found two old pairs of heels that I'm practicing on.

Anyone else DIYing anything fun?

The shoes I worked on this week:

I really want to glitter up some converse, have you had an issue with the glitter falling off? Also what glue and glitter did you use?

I used E600 to put the glitter on first then used mod podge to seal it so the glitter hasn’t been falling off.

I painted the shoes the same color I was going for, then used spray on glue and four some glitter that way. Then let it dry and filled in wherever I missed. After it all dried, I used 1 part water, 1 part mod podge, and a little bit of glitter as a sealer. Since this has dried, the glitter hasn’t come off that much.

I think you did a great job on these shoes! I’m having some “Toms” custom done for me. I didn’t feel confident in my own diy skills for this project.

Yes, or in my case strolling through the woods. 😉 We’re doing formal portraits on the trail. Then I’ll go get some dancing in.
