Making do to protect our loved ones

Governor Brown of Oregon signed a mandate yesterday stating that all indoor private parties has to be a total of ten people. This was a big blow to us after we had to scramble, cut the guest list, move the time of the ceremony up so we are not dying in the summer heat and be compliant with the mandates.
Now with the uptick in cases in my county, we had to cut the list to immediate family-only. No bridesmaids or groomsmen except the family who were in the party originally. We will be cancelling with our dream venue today and having the very small ceremony at my parents gorgeous woodland property.
Some of my family are high-risk for the virus. One of my bridesmaids is having a baby and her family is high-risk. My fiance's mom is high-risk, too. So for now, we are having the wedding we need, but not the wedding we want.

I can imagine this is so tough on you, but it is really inspiring to me. My wedding is still a bit off, but I've been anticipating this as I have a very high risk VIP who I want to attend my event. Your wedding story reminds me that a family-only wedding will be so intimate and also a huge source of hope for me and others in an otherwise bleak time. Throughout history, people have gotten married through disasters and awful times because marriage is that beautiful and that important. I think sometimes the pressure of our modern wedding industry and culture distracts us from the main event, the joining of two people in holy matrimony! Your wedding story will be one of perseverence and true love, and that's one you'll love telling for the rest of your lives.

Thank you. It has been a roller coaster ride, for sure. I do hope my story helps other brides and grooms find at least some comfort in knowing, at the end of the day, you will be married and a new chapter in life together. We can still wear the pretty dress or sharp suit. Heck, my math teacher in high school had a T-Shirt and Jeans wedding about 15 years ago.
At least we don't have to wear gas masks.

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with all of this Michelle, but I'm so glad you're staying flexible, protecting your loved ones, and still saying "I do"! Smiley ring

Your woodland wedding will still be wonderful, and you'll be starting your married lives together which is what matters most! Smiley heart
