Making chairs look better

Gwendolyn, on March 3, 2020 at 3:14 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 12

Our ceremony location has (in my opinion) some less than lovely chairs. Other than full chair covers, any ideas on making these look a little nicer? Flowers, covers, etc.? DIY likely preferred, for cost reasons.

There is a little gap at the top I could maybe work with. Does it look too small to do something like this?

You could even just take ribbons and just tie them as streamers Down the back. Ribbon is inexpensive. Could be in your wedding colors.

However I do think that’s a lot of work so in the end Even leaving it is fine. People won’t notice the chairs as much as ya think

I don’t think it looks too small at all. I say go for it.

I would suggest maybe trying spandex tie backs, or you could make tulle bows. Tulle isn't very expensive by the yard at any craft store.

These spandex tie backs I found are also only .59/each

Like others have said people don't notice chairs that much, it's something to sit on. If you MUST have something for the chairs ribbon, tulle or spandex bows. You can match your wedding colors with any of these options.

Honestly we had similar chairs, slightly lighter and while I wasn't in love with them we didn't want to spend more money on the nicer ones and I was not wanting to take on any more projects so I left them. I didn't even pay them any attention the day of and I don't think anyone else noticed either. I my opinion I would say save yourself the stress and money.

Honestly? Once guests are in the space, I promise no one will notice or think twice about the chairs. Many guests wear dark clothes to weddings, so when people are sitting in the chairs they will pretty much disappear in photos. If anything, I think adding "decoration" to them will make them more noticeable, not less. My advice is to move on to something else that truly matters more. (Because of the padding, these chairs are likely MUCH more comfortable that most wedding chairs, so your guests will thank you for that! Look at the bright side! Smiley winking )

Thanks everyone! I don't know why I keep fiaxting on the chairs (maybe because I don't have a lot to focus on, lol). I may just do some ribbons as suggested on the four chairs along the aisle, and not worry about the rest! Smiley smile

Looping the fabric like your example would work. But honestly, I’d use any of your darker wedding colors as the table linens and the chairs will disappear a bit. And guests won’t even notice.

Unfortunately, these are the chairs being used for the ceremony. The dining chairs are slightly nicer (a bit lighter in color) and the linens as you said will hide them. Although they keep bugging me I think you are all right - no one will notice. Smiley smile I may still wrap/decorate the four aisle seats since they will be more in view of photos.

I don’t think people pay much attention especially ceremony chairs. You just doing something on the aisle -Shepard hooks with flowers or petals.

I've posted these photos before for a bride concerned about "ugly" ceremony chairs. Daughter specifically chose these dark chairs for her ceremony instead of the white ones the venue typically used because she liked the look of dark chairs. But in these two (very cropped) photos it's easy to tell that the chairs pretty much completely disappear in photos because most guests wear dark clothing. Her florist did simple flower & ribbon bouquets for every other aisle chair. Good luck! Smiley heart

The chairs don't look too bad. The ones at my venue are an eye sore.... so we're using chair covers. For you, I'd say maybe some ribbon
