Making address labels and printing onto the envelop

Liz Ann, on March 7, 2015 at 6:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

My FH and I have horrible handwriting! We were thinking of printing peoples addresses directly onto the envelop. Does anyone have advice on how to do that? We were thinking of making clear address labels of our address, since it has to be on every envelop. Does anyone have advice on doing that? We would love to pay someone to address them for us but it's not in our budget.

I don't have any advice on the printing on the envelopes, but...You'd be surprised how much a nice calligraphy pen can help! Smiley smile

Make sure you have extra envelopes because it will take a lot of trial and error! I think I went through 6 or 7 envelops when I was setting it up for printing the envelopes that contained our save the dates. We had all of our addresses in an Excel spreadsheet. I think you just go into "Page Setup" and under Paper Size choose the size envelope you are using.

I used clear Avery labels and they came out great! You download the Avery template online according to which product you bought and you fill it in and then print it. They sell them at staples

I bought a stamp for the return address (I think it ran me $30?--similar to the picture below) and then bought a font from "DaFont.com". They turned out beautifully and people actually think it is my handwriting!

Oh, for the addressing of the envelopes, it was actually super easy to do with MS Word. Just measure the envelope and create a custom document the same size. Then type in your address and print right on to the envelopes (used my rear paper feeder of my printer).

I have a long history of not getting along with printers, so I was too afraid to try printing on the envelopes. I used the clear Avery labels and it was super easy.

I did it with my printer and MS word. It was pretty easy.

There was some trial and error, but I made sure I got extra envelopes just in case. I LOVED the way they turned out. I downloaded a font I found, and I got alot of compliments too

If you already have addresses in excel u can do a mail merge and it will make the labels that fit on the Avery and you can print them all at once

I printed all of our addresses on to the Envelopes for the STDs. I loved how they turned out. My printer picked up on my paper size and I downloaded a envelope template from Word. I did 1 test print and they all turned out great. I tried clear labels but i felt like the clear labels stuck out so much on the center of the envelope.

For the return, I went with the clear labels, it was just easier then printing individually. Plus it was a task FH could do. He sat in front of the game sticking labels on. Smiley smile

Ordered envelopes from VISTA print, beautiful and cheap! They already have our return address on the back! Then used the online Avery templates for clear address labels

Check online on groupon. That's where I was able to get a good deal on a stamp to use for the return address made it a breeze. Then either printing in the envelope directly or clear address labels for the recipients address likely would work. It's up to you bass on what you think looks better/is easiest

I did the same as @ Alicia, using the Avery labels and template. I printed out 3 labels for each guest. One for STDs, invites and Thank yous. This way I know I won't forget anyone and when the time comes all I have to do is peal off a label and put it on the envelope.

@Tammy, that's really smart to print a label for thank you cards! It will make the thank you card process so much easier.

@Tega, those labels are so cool!

This got me thinking and looking around for what I would use on my black envelopes. I just found shiny sparkly silver labels that would be perfect for the envelopes! Thanks for starting this thread! Smiley smile

You can buy inexpensive return address labels from a lot of companies online, I already have return address labels for our every day mail so I think that's a good idea. You can also get a custom stamp if you prefer that. (Plus: both can be used after you get married!!)

I am going to use clear labels and print guests' addresses on them in a pretty font - it is not in my budget to hire a calligrapher and honestly, I feel its a waste of money because envelopes just go in the trash!!
