Making a small ceremony special

Chechena-Jireh, on June 3, 2020 at 7:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

I live in LA and although things are opening up the time table and size limitations on gathering have not been made clear. That said opted to postponed to July 2021. My fiance and I still wanted to honor our original date of July 12th with a small ceremony with our big wedding on our 1 year anniversary. How do I make my small ceremony special and memorable?

I would just think of it as a small party. You can have the ceremony and have some outside party trays and music. Have you decided where to hold it. I know people that have done a backyard wedding followed by a party and this is during COVID but with smaller numbers. Just the people closest to you and you can have the vow renewal and reception in 2021. Look up microweddings.

I think it'll be special no matter what because you're getting married! Are you writing your own vows? That's always a great idea to make your ceremony special and personal.

It will be memorable regardless of the size. I think you should still include most, if not all, of the things you wanted for the big wedding, just in a smaller form. Still include the things/people that are most important to you guys.

I'll give you examples of how I'm making my elopement exactly the way I want it:

    1) Splurge on location and photographer. Memories fade a bit over time but if you have beautiful photos, it'll help you relive the day. Venues are expensive, but see what options are available for VRBOs with your date. A lot will say "no events allowed" but if you email the host, a lot of them will make an exception. Some have unique architecture, beautifully landscaped yards, or views of the coast. Maybe even consider live streaming it just in case things are still hectic a year from now.

    2) Shop on Etsy! I have found one of a kind things for my big day that were easily customized to be exactly what I want. I found my jewelry, bouquet, a sand kit for our blended family, cake topper, etc. And having things that are handmade by someone instead of mass produced adds a special touch. I met my FH while we were both working together in Japan, and I found a seller in Japan who made custom earrings for me to symbolize that. LOTS of ways to incorporate details that are meaningful to both of youSmiley smile
