Making 6 hour photo package work?

Sherraine, on April 9, 2022 at 7:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
We only could afford 6 hours. I feel like we might miss out on some very nice shots. Anyone else only have a photographer for 6 hours?

Any tips?

Hey Sherraine! We opted for 8. But we did have speak to a photographer who is very organized and told us how we could fit all of our pictures into 6 hours! So don't stress, it's completely possible! Just talk to your photographer about what's really important to you. Take a good chunk of pictures before the ceremony and you should be great!

I only had my photographer for 6 hours and he was amazing! we talked beforehand and sent him a list of each shot we wanted, and he made sure to capture it all. I don’t feel like we missed out on any photos.

We are only doing 4 hours and our wedding ceremony starts 4 and ends at 10 🙂 We aren’t doing any getting ready photos because I don’t care for those and she will miss the cake cutting BUT my fiancés best man is a photographer and he’s going to bring his camera to take some shots after she leaves !

You can definitely make a 6 hour photography package work! It will just mean you’ll need to be very organized and do your research ahead of time. Make a detailed list of shots and locations you want your photographer to capture. And also a list of all group shots. And make sure anyone involved in group shots knows they need to stay behind after the ceremony.

We have ours for 10 but I think you can make 6 hours work! You’ll just have to decide what part of your day is important to photograph. So do you want getting ready shots? Are you doing a first look? Do you want all the first dances and cake cutting? You can do from just the ceremony to the end of the reception. Once you decide what’s important to you than you can sort out your timeline of things to tell your photographer when you want them to be there

We also spoken to our photographers too and told too just capture the most important moments like have way ready for both of us and he has his photographer too we were in a contest and won a extra one and additional 3 hours. So mother's of bride and groom bridesmaids and groomsmen the ceremony itself after ceremony important pictures and when the reception is ready to begin first dance father and daughter dance toss the bouquet and garter toss cake cutting toss and speeches and when we leave our leaving time is about 10:30pm because our ceremony time is 5pm

YES!! This is my plan too! I'm marrying into a family whereby fiancé and two other of his siblings have all been photographers at weddings so the plan is to utilize the photographer for the super super important shots but also have the siblings taking photos of all the things when they aren't busy having fun or doing groomsmen things!

You could definitely do the photos in 6 hours. I would sit down and talk to your photographer about it and how the timeline would be.

Yes we did! My step mom fortunately had a high tech camera and took pictures of us getting ready and some “wedding details” but I still haven’t gotten the photos from her lol. But I think if anyone has a quality smartphone then other people were taking beautiful photographs for us before the photographer got there and the in betweens so I had some pictures to look at from our wedding day. I was worried about it too but our photographer was awesome and I don’t think she missed a beat because I see her in some of our other photos taking photographs. It’s been almost 8 weeks since our wedding and I’m still (patiently) waiting for our professional photos that I’m stoked to see.

I have my photographer booked for 6 hours. I asked my sister how she decided on 6 hours for her wedding and she said unless you are doing a "sparkler exit" or something like that there is no reason for the photographer to stick around until the end of the reception. I would rather she come early for getting ready and first look pictures and leave before the end of the reception since we're going to an after party and won't have any sort of "send off"
