A good professional makeup artist using high quality products will do your makeup so that it lasts all day/night. You shouldn't have to retouch after 1-2hrs.

I didn't. Like Jana said, if you hire a good makeup artist you won't need to retouch your makeup. I had my hair and makeup done about 2 hours prior to the start of the ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, I had a first look with my dad, photos with my bridesmaids and a first look with my husband and I. My makeup still looked perfect for our wedding. I didn't need my makeup retouched at all.

I hired a great makeup artist, but my mom was worried about makeup needing touch ups in case anyone cried. I had my makeup artist stay an additional 5 hours (we had a first look and she stayed until wedding party was announced for reception). It cost about $500 additional. This was in San Diego.

I had mine stay until cocktail hour. She touched up everyone's hair and makeup which was great because I lost in while reading my vows. I was not expecting to be that emotional
