Just wanted to see, is anyone else having problems with scheduling trials for makeup before you book the artist? The few places I've been talking to seem surprised that I want to book a trial before signing a contract. Even when I let them know that I want to pay for a trial they still seem hesitant. Is that the norm? I just find it odd because you do tastings for food, you tour the venue, you try dresses on...so why would makeup be different?

(Full disclosure: I'm also pushing for trials before booking because most artists in my area don't have people that look like me in their online portfolios...so how can I trust you to color match lol)

Usually you don’t need a contract for a trial. You just pay the trial fee and afterward make a decision to book or not. But, maybe it’s done differently from one region to the next.
