Makeup trial gone wrong

Amy, on August 11, 2019 at 5:57 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
I had my hair and makeup trial yesterday. My hair was great! Makeup not so much! The girl doing my makeup was also in the middle of dying someone’s hair and even had another person ask the client to wait a bit for her. I felt because of this she was rushed. I gave her many picture ideas and she definitely did not do a good job! The eyeshadow was a horrible color, eyeliner looked a mess, and I asked for nude lipstick and instead she used a pink and then another color (did not wipe the other off) which made it purple. She was in a rush and I had no time to say much. I left the salon and after being able to look at it more...EWWWWWW! The makeup was so caked on! When I got home I had already taken my hair out but left makeup on. My fiancé asked that I not look like that on our wedding day 😂. And what is worse, my face became irritated from the makeup. Not sure if I will do another trial or just do my own! I posted pic of the clown face and another of me doing a quick one eye to compare.

Oh dear! I don’t blame you. The colors she used do not jive with one another. By wondering if you should do another trial, do you mean another trial with the same MUA or a different MUA? I think that if the makeup irritated your skin and your trial went terribly wrong, you might want to try to find someone who has a sensitive skin line or that will let you use some of your own makeup. If not, do you have a bridesmaid or someone else good at makeup who can do your makeup for you?

I was thinking of another MUA. But I’m nervous about it. I’m actually fine with doing it myself! My MOH doesn’t do makeup in my taste and the only other person I trust to do it moved 8 hours away!

That’s definitely a hike! If you’re nervous about trying a different makeup artist and you’re completely fine doing it yourself, I’d just say to do your own makeup. You know the products you use are fine on your skin, you’re confident in your own skills, and if you want to play around with different looks, you can have as many free trials as you want until you get your look just the way you want it! 😁

Oh my goodness, she did an awful job at your makeup! If you feel comfortable doing your own makeup, I say go for it!

O no that's the worse. I also had a makeup trial done with one woman and I did not like how it came out at all. It was almost like drag makeup. I ended up doing another makeup trial with someone else and fell in love with how it came out. I would say you might want to try and do another trial but with someone else. Good luck!

I did my own make-up (because I am the same way) and it turned out just fine how I like it! I did watch some youtube videos to get tips and tricks, but I am very glad I decided to do my own. I know not everyone is like that! But do whatever makes you feel the best Smiley smile

Are there other makeup artists where you went? I think it’s definitely worth calling them and letting them know about your experience. They may give you another trial with someone new on them, or at least they should! But I also understand if you want to go another route. If you’re comfortable doing your own makeup the day of then that’s great, or maybe read into some reviews on other artists that are local. I think your own eye makeup looks great, you have big beautiful eyes so it won’t be difficult to make them pop!

I actually called the salon and told them how I felt. They admitted to overbooking her that day and reassured me she was the best they had. So I scheduled another appointment with her. I explained to her my concerns and showed her the above pic. She was shocked at the job she had done. This time she talked it through and tried different shades and I’m so much more happier!!!! I didn’t get pics this time but I feel much much better!
