Makeup trial fail

Christa, on November 21, 2019 at 1:40 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
I just got my hair and makeup trial done. I am not in love with my makeup at all!!. At first I Iiked it, now I feel that I look like I am five years older. I don't even want to walk down the street to Starbucks like this. My hair is just okay, but something is throwing me off. I feel like I should love the way I look. I'm disappointed because the makeup trial was $150. In NY everyone is around that price, and I don't want to keep wasting money
Has anyone had this problem? Did you try a new artist?

Did you express to the MUA that you did not like the final look? At my trial I told her what I liked and what I didn't. She changed some things (less bronzer, filling in the brows), and made notes for my wedding day.

Yeah I did, she changed something's also. She said she wouldn't do my eyeliner as dark for day of too. But now I feel like I am turning slightly orange, and my under eyes are creasing pretty bad.

Oh no Smiley sad You definitely need longevity in your makeup for your wedding day. I understand not wanting to pay for a second trial. I would ask your friends or family if they know of any good makeup artists that they have used previously.

Did you let the MUA know that your skin is turning orange and that the makeup is leaving creases around your eyes? It could have to do with certain ingredients in the makeup, an off color, dry skin, etc. Before you move on, be very specific with her and tell her how the makeup is affecting you. This will provide her insight with regards to which makeup to avoid or what you can do with your skin to help you achieve that healthy supple glowing look on your big day. Also, make sure to send her pictures to provide visuals of what you want. I was a bit disappointed with my hair and makeup trial, but I talked to my MUA about how the makeup affected my skin hours later, what I wanted done differently, what I didn’t like about my hair and makeup and sent pictures of my vision. She worked really well with me on that and both she and the hair stylist did an amazing job on my wedding day!

I haven't told her yet about the creasing or turning orange. Did your makeup artist giving another trial with the changes?

This is why you have a trial, so you can work out the kinks. Call and talk to her, and if you have a picture of the coloring off and whatever else was wrong, send that to her as well. It sounds like all of these things can be adjusted. You’re definitely not the first person who didn’t like their trial. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself to get the look you want.

    Hi!
I hated my makeup after the trial hours after I got it done. It was fine with me when I got it done and now I can’t stand to look at the picture. I’m having another makeup trial with a different makeup artist this month to see if I like it. I hate to spend more on a makeup trial but these pictures are forever. My mom also suggested going to Macy’s or Sephora and having someone there do my makeup to try out different looks. I hate that I didn’t like the first trial and am in NY too so I too spent $150 for the first trial. I’m just not doing any shopping until the wedding day so I can spend the money on another trial 🙄 Good Luck!
