Makeup tips to cover arms and chest

Sydnie , on May 22, 2019 at 12:20 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Looking for some advice as a person who doesn't use makeup often I still love and appreciate the amazing things it can do. With that being said, I'm getting married in about 6 weeks, I have always been a skin picker and have acne scars all over my chest, back and especially shoulders. My wedding gown is strapless and from getting fitted yesterday I was able to see all the scars despite being in a beautiful dress, I still didn't feel right like I didn't deserve to wear such a beautiful thing with such ugly skin. I'm looking to figure out some sort of makeup combo that would cover the spots without making it look blatantly obvious that I have makeup on. I'm not in the mental position to just go without either, I've covered my arms and chest on a daily basis for my whole life and it's just starting to hit me that I'll be exposed to well over 100 people who have either never seen my arms and chest before or haven't seen them since childhood. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for the long drawn-out story. I'm just not looking for a flow of comments saying to go as I am because that's what I've gotten off other forums.

I know Ulta DermaBlend is recommended for tattoo cover up and large scars, you could look into that.

Hi! Just wanna say I have a similar situation. Though my wedding is not for another year.
Ive suffered from acne on shoulders and back and some on chest. My problem is high pigmentation, so even if I don’t pick my skin turns into brown spots.
I used to use EStee Lauder Doublewear Foundation when I modeled. It covered even the red spots! Maybe go to a store and see if they have your shade.
Did you hire a make up artist or doing DIY? If you have a make up artist they will usually suggest airbrushing, that has worked for me as well! You might have to pay extra but it will be worth it to not worry about your appearance.
Anyway, I’m sympathize with you 💕

Here’s a screen shot of what I used. It lays on pretty smoothly and has natural matte finish.

No makeup artist, just a friend doing my face. I'm on my own trying to figure out the body part. Thank you! I'm looking into whatever I can!

Have you considered a spray tan? My makeup artist will be airbrushing my back but she highly suggested a spray tan ahead of time as it helps with covering scars. I've never had one before but I'm going to get one right before the trial and if I'm happy with the whole thing, I'll do it again the day before the wedding.

I used to be a pro cheerleader and we used to spray tan not only for the tan but to help with imperfections in the skin. I have a few products that I love for tattoo/scar cover up. Dermablend is amazing but can bleed if you're having fun on the dance floor and that's the last thing you want to get on your dress or any of your guests. The other suggestion is Kat von D has an amazing full coverage concealer and foundation. If you go to Sephora they can match your skin perfectly for the right color. Just make sure whatever product you use to set it with both a powder and setting spray so it doesn't melt while you're dancing or hugging all of your friends. Good luck! I'm sure you will look amazing!

Are you getting your makeup done professionally with airbrush? If so, ask the makeup artist to do your back/ shoulders/ arms as well! I had a BM who actually had our makeup artist do this to her back and it looked great - you couldn't even tell. The airbrush didn't come off on her dress either.
