Makeup Recommendations

Katelyn, on September 5, 2019 at 4:39 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10

I am doing my own makeup for my wedding. Do you have any bridal makeup must-haves or recommendations?

I am mainly focused on getting a good primer, foundation and setting spray.

Honestly, I use e.l.f. poreless primer and love it. I've used other, more expensive, options and still prefer e.l.f. Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is a gift from the high heavens.

I know you didn't ask for lip options, but I'm just going to throw out there that Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint by Tart is amazing. Once it dries, it stays!! Just in case you didn't have something for that quite yet. (I recommend it any chance I get, that's how good it stays on)

    Everything waterproof.

I recommend house of lashes lash glue at sephora. I did everything - yoga, house chores, showered and splashed water at my face, etc - and them things stayed on for 16 hrs. Melted right off with my clinique makeup remover.

Thrive causemetics makes a lip liner/plumper that literally stays as long as you want it to. Honest company has a matte lip gloss that also stays and doesn't dry.

Urban decay all nighter waterproof for setting spray.

The primer and foundation depend on your skin type. I have oily / combo skin, so I'm not sure how applicable this will be:

I highly recommend the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I thought it was all over-priced hype... and then I tried it and absolutely love it. It's oil-free and has this airy texture that glides over your skin, filling in your pores and lines -- amazing. I've heard NYX's Angel Veil Primer is a good dupe, but if you can splurge on this primer, I recommend it (or at least get a sample).

I like MAC's Studio Fix Fluid as a foundation. It keeps my skin matte without clogging my pores and has so many color options to find your perfect match.

For settings sprays, I like Urban Decay's All-Nighter Setting Spray and MAC's Fix+.

For a must-have, you should have a good eye shadow primer. This will keep the pigments bright and keep everything in-place. I recommend Smashbox's 24-Hour Primer or Urban Decay's Eye Shadow Primer Potion .
