Makeup for Arms?

LM, on March 4, 2018 at 4:13 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 27
So I have been getting these red splotchy bumps on my arm... The dermatologist said it was probably psoriasis, but the cream she prescribed is not working. My wedding is in two weeks....!

So now I am wondering, is there an airbrush style makeup that I can spray or brush on for the wedding day, just to look less splotchy? I don't generally wear much makeup and do not want to look fake, so I am hoping for something lightweight but long-lasting and effective.

Do you ladies know of such a thing? Where do I look? Help!

You might irritate it more if you put something on it.

True... but I'd like for it to be less visible, if possible. Maybe there's a moisturizing makeup that would be good for the psoriasis-type breakout? I'm wondering if it's the heat/humidity making me break out.

I get you there. Friday I went to my Dr. with what I thought was Psoriasis, turns out it was a fungal infection (WHAT??? HOW!?!), and now I'm worried because there ware splotches all over my body. What I'm doing is going to make sure I've moisturized the areas. With Psoriasis I'd talk to your Dr. and see if going tanning would help. It's a legitimate treatment thankfully.

My previous job was in R&D for a cancer treatment company, so I'm definitely not comfortable tanning Smiley amazing

But yes, I've been trying to moisturize often to see if that helps... How do you treat the arm fungus? Does it look like mine?

It doesn't look like yours, thankfully. My eczema looks like yours, sometimes an antihistamine works with that. But the fungal infection includes a prescription, but you could try apple cider vinegar!

I would skip make up as I would be afraid it would rub onto my dress from my arms. I would try the vinegar- and sometimes when I get a bad breakout I'll slather Neosporin on my breakout as if it's bacterial it can help clear it up and help it to heal faster- I would just make sure it was the Neosporin cream so it will soak in and not leave you greasy like the ointment would.

I have that same problem, I didn’t know it was psoriasis. I have a sugar scrub that I use and it helps clear some of it. I notice that it really comes out when it’s warmer outside. Weird.

You wouldn't want it rubbing off on your dress

I can’t vouch for it personally, but I’ve heard that Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water ($18.50 on Amazon) works wonders on rosacea and red blotchy skin. It has 4.5 stars with over 1,000 reviews. Might be worth looking into and is specifically meant for ultra sensitive skin so I doubt it would cause more irritation.

You could always spray tan. It might hide some redness?

Thats look like an allergy or contact dermatitis, not psoriasis.

It also looks like you have been scratching them. Does it itch? . Anything new like detergent, deodorant, lotion, etc? It could also be keratosis pilaris, super common skin condition where your skin can't exfoliate itself well, but it usually doesn't itch.

You probably have keratosis pilaris which gets better with exfoliation . This pic doesn't really look like psoriasis.

It doesn't itch and I haven't been scratching (consciously, at least!) ... I'll have to look into exfoliation and apple cider vinegar! I am incredibly excited, but this has been going on with my arms for over a year. But yeah, strangely, has not been a skin condition of mine until recently(ish).

What I did to get rid of mine and it really helps cause creams suck. Make some oatmeal u gonna have to do this every night. If u heard of avveno there's oatmeal in it. But just do this yourself. And it work for me got rid of it fast. U gonna need some help. Cause I had it on my hands. I made the oatmeal in the pot I put it on my hand every night put plastic wrap and a sock over my hand and don't know how I did it but with one hand I still changed my sons daiper at night. The next night I did the other hand. I switch every other night within a week or 2 both hands were cleared up. So with your arm have the other person load that oatmeal on your arm get that plastic wrap on your arm gonna feel weird then get a legging or something to cover it so no leakgage trys to come to sleep at night with it. It and so it every night should start to clear up. Oatmeal really works. I don't have problems and creams don't work for me.

If you dont get it cleared up and want a quick fix, I'd go with the makeup.

You'll want to start by exfoliating the area a day or two before, then put a primer on the area (I'd try ULTA Flawless Prime or Hydro Prime). Then dab the makeup on your spots and blend out with a Beauty Blender (or other sponge). You can get an even look by blending the crap out of your arm. Make sure to start with a small amount of whatever makeup you use. You can always add more.

Then set with a setting powder and cornstarch baby powder. The makeup powder sets the makeup and the baby powder ensures that it's 100% set on your body.

It would be good to test before the wedding, just to see how well it looks and stays.

Oh that's good. When I was in highschool I was teased really bad. People thought I had rabies my feelings were hurt no one would sit next to me. I had it so bad. But just a skin condition that's hard to get rid of. Then I just tryed the oatmeal trick. My friend bought me the Neosporin that's says for eczema and then it help some. And we used avveno stuff and we know that it has oatmeal in it. And she suggested why don't we just try to use just oatmeal I said it might work. My Uncle had a bar soap that was made out of oatmeal and he used it he said it help his skin. Which don't know where he got it at. But couldn't find one. But I try my friends trick with the oatmeal. The 1st night on the one hand I took it off the next morning and I was like wow it's really working. Didn't heal it all the way but it was helping. So I did the other hand. And I took oatmeal baths. I took the oatmeal ground it in the food processor into a fine powder and put 1cup in the bath water. And soak in it for an hour. Sometimes I couldn't I had my baby he was very little. Like 8 months old I think. But that oatmeal worked after using it for those few nights healed it up I was so glad.
