Makeup artist cancelled due to the fabulous Covid

Adriana, on July 8, 2020 at 7:37 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
Has anyone else experienced their makeup artist cancelling on them? The place that is doing my hIr also does makeup and they got a notice from the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology that makeup applications are currently banned as it requires removing the sacred mask. Given this they don’t know when the ban will be lifted. They can still do hair but not makeup. We have a mandatory mask wear in PA so you have to wear a mask even if your outside walking your dog and in the heat. (The governor is a piece of work)
At this point I’m looking at doing my own. Since coverup tends to leave its mark in a mask I’m not sure if I should use any. Is there any kind that is sweat proof and gluten free (I have a sensitivity to gluten and it has played a roll in my makeup)
What is everyone else for their big day? I’m hoping this will change but I’m not gonna hold my breath

Girl I know what you mean. It all sucks. I would definitely suggest Tarte makeup. It’s gluten-free, cruelty free, paraben free, and blah blah blah all that good stuff. The quality of the make up however does hold up pretty well and I would suggest getting all day primer, Translucent powder and a setting spray. This will help hold your make up to last throughout the day. There are some great make up tutorials on YouTube. My suggestion would be to look them up ahead of time to see all of the make up that they use in their tutorials that way you know what to get and then because of your gluten allergy you could just get all of it in Tarte. I’d also suggest getting a beauty blender. It’ll be a lot easier to touch up any mask lines with your make up if you end up having them throughout the evening. It’s insane to think that you even have to wear a mask at your own wedding but this is life as we know it right now.

I live in PA and I have a lady coming to our hotel room the day of the wedding to do my makeup and hair. As of now I have not heard she was canceling. So I am not sure if it can happen since she is coming to our hotel room, but I don’t know if that is a state wide rule or the way your makeup artist is interpreting the rules. I really hope my girl doesn’t cancel.

It maybe because she has a studio they are being told that. For the ones going outside of their home or business they probably have a little more leeway

It could be. Are you getting it done in her studio? My girl also has a studio but she is coming to me for the day of my wedding. Either way, I would reach out to other artists and find someone that travel to you and you might be able to find one.

I am yes. She could have done location but depending on the size of the room she may not have been able to bring enough girls to get things done within the allotted time so we were gonna be at the studio for hair and makeup.

Oh no! I live in PA too and although I have several months until my big day, it concerns me since this isn’t going away anytime soon. I just looked it up on the PA Department of State website this is what it states:

SERVICES NOT PERMITTED TO BE PERFORMED
    • Services which would require the removal of the client's face mask (e.g. facials; removing hair from lip or chin area)
    • The rendering of cosmetology or limited license services outside of the salon.

I live in Maryland, it’s a little different. They are able to do facials but since I’m getting married in PA they obviously are different. I’m debating if I should just do my own makeup. I just need to start looking and trialing now so I know I’m doing.
This whole process has been frustrating

I think it’s a great idea to do some trials now if you’re able to in Maryland. Get the products the artist use and practice recreating the look for your day. I may try to think of ways to do the same if things stay this way in PA.

In PA too...I wonder what will happen now that daily cases have increased?
