Makeup and hair crisis

Nola, on October 3, 2019 at 2:20 PM Posted in Arizona Planning 0 14
Hey everyone! So I recently got my hair and makeup done with a company and when I tell you I left bawling my eyes out, I mean it. I looked crazy! If anyone has any good recommendations for me I would be so grateful. I’m in the Phoenix, Scottsdale area. My wedding is also in 65 days and I feel like I’m freaking out! Also, did anyone do their own hair and makeup for their wedding? I’m really thinking about since the makeup look I’m going for is super natural and it seems like the makeup artist like to go over board with the lashes..

I'm doing my own makeup. My daily makeup is just eyeliner, mascara, and brow powder, I've never been a full-face of makeup person. For special occasions, I add some eyeshadow and lipstick but that's all. I want to feel and look like myself for my wedding day, so I'll just practice the look I want (which will be super simple) and do it myself Smiley smile

Not really, my makeup is pretty simple. It's also very minimal so if I did mess up, it would take all of twenty minutes to take it off and redo it lol. If I was doing a full face, I would probably be more hesitant considering I don't have any experience with it.

I'm looking in the same area. Please let me know who so I avoid them. I've heard Madison Ave, department stores, and ulta are some of the higher rated options out here. I'm not having much luck finding one that doesn't charge $250 without a trial.

I'm doing my own makeup as well. I wear makeup daily and I usually do a full face full which is moisturizer, foundation, undereye corrector (helps make me look less tired), eye shadow, mascara, bronzer, and eye liner. I sometimes skip eye liner if my allergies are bad. And I'm just hoping like heck I won't be nervous and mess up lol. I also sell Mary Kay so I have a large supply of makeup to pick from most days.

I’m really considering on doing my own makeup. I do a very simple routine. Moisturizer, BB cream/ tinted moisturizer (which is seems makeup artist use foundation which makes me look very caked) some powder here and there, blush, slight contour and mascara and brow gel. I might do a slight eyeshadow but I need to practice

I suggest just keep practicing. Find some inspo picks and try different colors too.

For all of you considering doing your own makeup, have you been to Macy's??? Their makeup counter salespeople are usually really knowledgeable about the products, and how to apply them. If you go there asking about products, and looking to buy a few things, they will usually give you a demo right there for free. Tell them you aren't sure what shade is best (foundation or lipstick or blush) and ask them if they can help. They are usually more than eager to not only help you pick out products, but show you how to best apply them.

You can even tell them you're doing your own makeup for your wedding, and you want to get it right.

Find your own lashes. That’s what I’m doing. Ask for a natural look so minimal makeup.

I'm so sorry you felt rushed, and weren't happy with the results. Now, I don't know what you look like normally, but I think you look really beautiful here!!! And your hair is absolutely gorgeous!!

Like I said, this look may not be what you are used to, or what you wanted. But it's really pretty. I hope you get what you want.

This is what I look like when I do my own makeup and this is what I looked like when she did my makeup. My eyes were so droopy and i asked her to enhance my natural features. I didn’t look like myself at all and I want to look like myself on my wedding day and feel beautiful. Thank you though I really appreciate it!

Ok, that really helps understand with the "before" picture. I see what you are talking about now. It's not a bad makeup job, it's just a lot compared to what you look like everyday. Some brides want a more glam look for their wedding. You just aren't one of them! It's ok. I am sure you'll figure out the solution. But take my advice about Macy's, if you have one close enough. They really do know what they are talking about, and are usually happy to demonstrate. Especially if you show them the "after" photo and tell them this is not what you want. Good luck!!

I completely get if it's not what you want BUT I think you look absolutely gorgeous! If you think it's too much going on for your personality, I would go with doing it yourself. You know your face and the way you like your makeup done best and if you want to do a natural look, I wouldn't waste your money on someone else doing itSmiley smile

Thank you! I completely agree. I’ll have someone do my hair which will by me hair stylist that I go to but for my makeup I’ll just do it myself. I’ll have to practice but I’ll think I feel more like myself if I do my own makeup. Thank you again I really appreciate it❤️❤️
