Makeup and getting ready advice

Brianna, on January 9, 2021 at 7:08 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
I really need some advice about getting ready. So I am getting married at a beautiful park. There isn’t any place there to get ready. My dilemma is should I get my makeup done before the wedding and just get dressed at my house (my bridal party is just family - my sister and niece). Or should I book a hotel and have the makeup artist meet us there and we get ready there? From my house to the venue is about 30 minutes. From the hotel to there is about 12 minutes.

It's completely up to you. I'm cheap, so I would get ready in my home.

Hi Brianna! May be good to have a place close by to save you time, keep you relaxed. On the wedding day, you will want to make things as convenient as possible for yourself, so the hotel may be a good idea 🌸

I would have her come to your home for any HMU, have any pictures you want there, then go to the venue. The makeup and hair are intended to last for many hours. If you do not have one of those plastic bonnets to protect a hairdo on a rainy or windy day, get one each for your trip to the car, and car to venue, as well as a big golf size umbrella. You know how it is, when you are prepared, nothing happens? I think pics in your home are so much more sentimental than in a soul-less hotel.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m staying at my parent’s house the night before (which is about 20 mins away from the venue) & our makeup artist is coming there the morning the day of to start around 7am. If we get ready at the venue, it’s going to be an additional $400. Besides the $$$ thing, I want to be able to just relax with my family while getting ready. Have a hearty breakfast with my parents & sister.

Hmmmm if you have the money I would get the hotel. I got my hair and make up done at my studio and then got dressed at my venue. If you factor in the time properly then do it all at your house. I just did not because my husband would have been home at the time.

I booked an AirBnb for the night before I got married. My sister and BIL came in from Arizona the night before as well, so they stayed with me. My HMUA came to me at the AirBnb, which was only about 10 minutes from the park we ended up at. It was great being so close to the park and it added to the excitement since it was a more “special” location. No bridal party on this day, since we were restricted to only a few people, but the original plan had them at the hotel with me the day of to get their hair and makeup done.

If you have the ability to book a close hotel, personally I would. Less stress and if for some reason you're running behind schedule you wont have as far to go to the venue.

If you have the budget for the hotel, I'd go with that. Less distance=less traffic=less thing could go wrong. Plus, who doesn't want a little extra luxury the day of their wedding?
