Makeup allergies

Deborah and Aaron, on February 19, 2017 at 5:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Help! What to do!? I normally don't wear makeup because I get teary and headaches, stuffy nose.... today I had my first trial. I thought it would be way better because they have professional stuff. It went way worse. I had to remove it all after 1 hour because I couldn't stand it. Should I go to a dermatologist? Would it make a difference? Or tell my artist to do a light make up?

Yes, I would see a dermatologist.

I'd make a list of what products you've tried using and jotting down their ingredients; that might help pinpoint what it is about the make-up that's causing a reaction.

ETA: Have you tried using products marketed to sensitive skin? Just curious.

Yeah, definitely look at the ingredients in the products that you've tried and see if you can narrow down what you are allergic to. I've had bad reactions to certain things before, and I think the last thing you should do is try to suffer through it on your wedding day. See a dermatologist and see if you can find products that don't make you react that way.

Could you take something to make it tolerable? Like a Claritin see if it helps.

I don't know if you've tried it but Yonique works well for my FHs cousin. She has Celiac disease and I didn't know some make up products I guess has gluten in it? Anyway, they have a list of what their products are free of. And as far as I've been told, they don't test on animals as well! I definitely suggest going to a dermatologist though first. You should always get a professional's opinion.

Which products specifically irritate you? I think the best route would be the dermatologist, and finding out exactly what irritates your skin. I have sensitive skin and eyes, and I find that Hourglass, Tarte, and Urban Decay are the most tolerable. Make sure that you aren't using anything scented, as that is the culprit for a lot of people.

Jay, I have tried Almay which is hypoallergenic. I find that it sits better for a longer time for me as far as allergies. No eyeliner on the water line because I start to tear. I was told to try LUSH or Bare Mineral products? I will go to a dermatologist this week and get this figured out! I don't mind a light application of makeup for the wedding but I can't do none. Especially not with all the photographs being taken of me Smiley xd
