Make-up for those that don't make-up.

Barklarich, on February 15, 2015 at 10:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I don't ware make-up every day. Only for special occasions. I would like to wear make-up for my wedding. This is a really really special occasion but I don't want to go over board.

What will your make up be?

I'm having my friend/MUA do my makeup, it will look natural but highlight my features, dark eyliner and lash extensions (they really do make a difference in photos)

Whatever you do, just avoid SPF , it washes you out in photos. Is a MUA in your budget?? Or can one of your friends help you with you makeup?? My MuA also told me that shimmer will wash out in pics as well (sad face...i like shimmer)..so don't do shimmer...

I have a friend of mine doing my hair and she is willing to do my makeup but I would feel best if I talked with her about my own opinion first and not go with whatever she says.

I wear minimal makeup everyday (foundation, blush, setting powder, lipglass/lipstick) so for my wedding I explained this to my MUA, I have really sensitive eyes, so she did less around my eyes. I went for a very classy look, very polished and natural, I didn't want to look like a doll, I just wanted my features to be enhanced. Just explain this to your MUA when she does your trial.

I also don't wear makeup, just some simple foundation to even out my skin tone.. it's very very rare that i ever put anything else on, even on holidays and when i go out lol

but i definitely plan to have a make up artist on my wedding! will be going with simple natural tones, and will probably add some color for my eyeshadow to match whatever colors i decide to go with - but i have some time for that Smiley smile

I am not a makeup person. I've only really warn it 4 times in my life 3 wedding I was in and for my engagement pictures. I will being hiring a MUA to come to the room to do my makeup but I'm thinking a very natural look with a pop of color on my eyes I don't want to look too much different than my normal self.

I don't really understand people who don't wear makeup on a daily basis... like...why not? I have yet to meet anyone who didn't look better with makeup on. I have been wearing makeup since 8th grade and wear makeup every day. I am getting eyelash extensions and will be doing airbrush makeup for my wedding day. The pics are my makeup inspiration!

@annakay I'm sure it enhances my look i tried to get into it when I was 21 I got all these MAC products and I poked myself in the eye one time and that was over. I think it looks nice when I have it done and girls who wear it look beautiful but I just can't do it LOL

Annakay, I don't wear it because I don't like to put gunk on my face every day. It clogs my pores. I don't like needing to use more gunk to take it off. Too much on my skin. I'm sure I look better with it, but I also look just fine without. I guess I feel my natural face is good enough on a daily basis. Makeup is for special occasions for me.

OP, I did airbrush makeup and it rocked! I did do a natural look but with en emphasis on my eyes. I still looked like me, but a made up me.

I am in the same boat. For my wedding I want everything soft and simple. I have been trying out different looks before I go in to do my trial so I can tell them what I really want.

I started wearing more makeup in the past year, because I enjoy it. But I live by the self-rule that I will always be comfortable in my own skin, and the day I don't feel comfortable going out without makeup is the day that I will reevaluate why I wear it. But I think it will look nicer for wedding pictures to wear some. @Barklarich: If you do a foundation, make sure it's something light -- like a BB cream -- that way you can still see your natural features underneath, and maybe go with neutral browns for your eye shadow? Also, if you have dark eyelashes already, you can totally just get a clear mascara to make them look a little more done up. Personally, I would do a little blush (and by a little, I mean a little), so you don't look flat, and a nice lip color. But I definitely would not recommend going overboard and running the risk of not looking like YOU! You are beautiful and your natural beauty should not be hidden away.

@annakay: some people don't wear make up because they look good without it. I never understood people who wear make up every day.... It messes with your skin! I love not wearing make up. I am just as beautiful with out it as I am with is (fh's opinion). I am like OP I wear it on special occasions but otherwise don't. Don't be so quick to judge lady! :-)

Annakay- I don't wear makeup every day because I don't feel the need to put crap all over my face that makes me look fake and not like myself. That is very broad statement you made. It sounds silly, and narrow minded. I don't understand people who wear the amount of makeup your inspiration pic has on, but I would never comment that to you if you asked a question on it.

If you wear a high quality (not necessarily expensive) but high quality makeup that is natural it won't clog your pores. If you wear the stuff from the drugstore, well yeah it will clog your pores.

I used to hate wearing heavy foundation every day, and then a friend of mine made me a customized foundation that covered my blemishes and enhanced my features and felt super lightweight, I didn't even realize i was wearing makeup.

As for every day makeup, I do wear minimal makeup (foundation, eye base , eye liner and lip shine..thats it)..for going out i take out my shadows. I only wear eyelash extensions for extra special occassions like my wedding Smiley smile..just cause they are a pain to put on, I rather have someone else do it.

@Annakay - I have never worn makeup. I -personally- find it to be a waste of time and money. I've been told that I have nice skin, I really don't know what that means..But I hear it from a lot of people. So I'm guessing its a good thing.

I tried it once, and within five minutes I took it off... I felt fake, Since it was far different then what I look like.

I feel better & prettier about myself when my face is natural, and makeup less. Some people like it, and some people don't. It's all on personal preference.

Your statement sounds very narrow minded.

    Edit: Stupid autocorrect.

@annakay I don't don't wear make up everyday it's too much work and I'd rather sleep plus I touch my face a lot (I only notice when I wear make up cuz I get it everywhere) plus I know I'll fall off the wagon and then people will tell me I look tired or ask if I'm sick

@OP I would say play up your favourite feature it you love your eyes make them pop with a smoky look or if you have beautiful pouty lips enhance them with a pop of colour. Which ever you choose go more tame/neutral on the other feature

@ kemmie I am so like you. I don't mind wearing makeup(eyeshadow, eyeliner that used to be my work look) but I am now at the point again that I would rather sleep then wake up early to put makeup on. I also touch my face a lot which is why I have been trying to find something that will last the day through my damn paws always touching it.

I'm right there with some of these girls, I rarely wear makeup (b/c While I do wash my face at night & int he AM, I'm too lazy to wash makeup off...I know that sounds horrible) Plus I really like that people see my face, I have been blessed with fairly clear skin & I like to show it off.

On the same hand, if I was more into it (I have to get up for work @430am, as is) I do enjoy wearing it when I am planning on going out & I love the way I look, but I also love the way I look with out! TBH though, sometimes FH gives me crap about putting it on... so I skip it, but last week we went to a B-day dinner for his Great Aunt who turned 93 & I put on mascara, shimmery gold eye color (not dark @all) & a dab of lipstick & he got on me about putting it on, & I told him, He was taking longer than me to get ready & to bug off, I felt prettier with it on when I am making taking the time to do my hair as well...

@annakay- that was kind of rude. I don't wear makeup every day because I think I look good enough without it. I also really disagree that everyone looks better with it, some people look pretty fake. There are better things I can be doing with my time in the morning than putting on makeup and that's my choice. I'll wear makeup for special occasions or if there's going to be a lot of pictures taken or something, but I don't feel like I need to every day. It's not good for my skin, and I don't want to do it.
