Make up artists never responding. WHATS UP? NY/NJ area

Where's your actual wedding? My artist is in a at but mentioned she travels to NY for weddings. I'd totally recommend their work from my trial.

Move on when they don't respond. That could be indicative to how responsive they'll be on your wedding day. I experienced the same thing in trying to book a MUA. I have no clue why people put booking information on their profile or state they are a MUA and then don't at least reply to say they are booked or whatever the circumstance.

My wedding is in Florham Park, NJ. I literally reached out to so many, but only one got back to me and she said she is not available for the day of my wedding, which is fine, at least she replied. I don't understand the problem in replying.

I would need my make up done in Brooklyn, NY though. Who is your make up artist? Does she have an Instagram or a website I can check out her work?

FutureMrs - exactly my point. I am so disgusted by their ignorance. Like you said - why put all your information up if you're not going to respond!

And if any of them reply at his point, I think I should just take your advise and steer clear!

Have you tried old fashioned phone calls to their salon? As a hairstylist I personally try to get back to everyone that texts/emails me, but because my schedule stays at the salon I sometimes forget until the next time I'm at work. I'd say if you call their salon and they don't get back to you right away it's time to find someone else.

They're 2 Spa Girls in North Haven. They do charge a fee for traveling. But it was basically the mileage reimbursement under IRS rules. They have a website and I thought their prices were reasonable. Good luck

FutureMrsV - I will be completely honest, I have not trying to actually call the salon. Some don't even work in the salon though. They are just certified and work from home.

And do call.......emails only go so far....

I'm using MG Hair & Makeup, they were very responsive. She came to my apartment in uptown Manhattan for my trial and is coming to the Bronx for the wedding, no additional travel fees.

I heard from a stylist that they sometimes will wait to respond because they want to see if a bigger potential contract will come through for the same weekend/day.

That could be what is happening here... I had the same thing happen to me with a few stylists -- then once they replied (after like 3-4 weeks of me waiting) they would hound me until I told them I'd already contracted another vendor.

I found a million artists via IG - most were responsive. I used the hashtag #nycmua. There's too many to list, but try the vendor tab. My hair and mua is Mia Farah of Mia Farah Beautique. She's amazing, and so is her team (one of them did my makeup for my shower).

eta: it's also a busy time of year - I believe it's wedding season now. Also, some emails go to their junk folder.

Highly recommend Lauren Weber -She's actually a co-worker of mine. She travels, and has so many great reviews, I'm considering her for my own wedding.

You have to call, not just email. It's getting into prime wedding season now, and people are probably very busy.

Also, that's not the correct use of the word ignorance. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or information, not the state of someone not returning your calls. You can be annoyed by their communication skills, or lack thereof, but it's not ignorance.
