Major anxiety.......

Kayse, on November 27, 2020 at 8:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

Hi yall. I was supposed to get married in June. At the time, I thought it was a good idea to postpone to December. In hindsight, what a bad idea. I mean a second wave in the winter was predicted. In my state, new regulations abound, but not for religious institutions who can apparently do whatever they want. It's just....very frustrating. If you have any support to offer, I'd welcome it.

Not all religious institutions can get away with what they want. Just a few days ago there was a church in NYC that got hit hit with a $15 or 20k fine for having 7000 guests and zero masks from the news pictures.

Take a deep breath and go with the flow one step at a time. Set aside at least one or more nights per week for self care to destress and not deal with wedding stuff.

Well, SCOTUS determined that there are different guidelines for religious guidelines than for weddings.

It’s difficult planning & hoping for your wedding during a pandemic! There’s absolutely nothing you can do about it except roll with the punches! Good luck beautiful! The main thing is you’ll be marrying the love of your life, your best friend!

At this point, all you can do is make sure safety precautions are in place and try to enjoy the day! Reduce guest count if you haven’t already. My city is officially out of covid tests and all 3 hospitals are over 100% capacity. Best wishes 🤍

That was a synagogue. Please don't call it a church.

It was a secretly planned wedding in a high risk area that was deliberately planned to go against *every* COVID restriction... in a population that has been devastated by the virus. Moreover, they went against the advice of one of their own leaders, who just died from COVID.

As for the OP, the only thing I can say is to plan for the safest you can figure out. If religious services are unlimited, treat them as if there ARE, and use your venue's guidelines.

We are in the same scenario. We were supposed to be married June 27th and postponed to December 12th (2 weeks from today!). Wedding is in NC and we are down to 47 guests and expecting to have even fewer by wedding day. Our only hope at this point is that the state we are getting married in does not go into a lockdown. Keeping our fingers crossed and staying hopeful that we can still have our now almost micro wedding. Good vibes to y'all and just remember you cannot control these things, you can only control your reactions to them,

I'm not totally sure yet. Our current guidelines end on December 13, so we'll have to wait to see what the new guidelines are.

Right now, weddings are capped at 25. That could change when the current guidelines end on December 13.

So sad about the hospitals :-( Thanks for the positive vibes.

Yep, so true about accepting what we can't control. Right now weddings cannot exceed 25 in my state, and I'm okay with that. However, the current guidelines end on December 13, so that number could decrease. Unfortunately many people in my state flout the guidance and things don't seem to be getting better.

I hope everything works out for you guys!

Thinking of you Kayse!! I too was a June bride and postponed to August with a smaller wedding. Don’t beat yourself up, unfortunately the pandemic is a moving target which there are no guarantees and no answers. If it helps, I loved my smaller wedding and to my surprise, wouldn’t change a thing about it.

This is a really weird way of looking at it but my now husband and I said if we can get through this covid planning, marriage is gonna be easy! Sending positive vibes to you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! I'm glad you were still able to get married. I am also fine with having a smaller wedding; I'm just a little worried about what the new restrictions will be since they are being announced less than a week before my wedding, lol. Plus I don't want anyone getting sick. I feel like we're hemorrhaging money for potentially no reason. So true about the moving target! I actually almost moved to August 1, but I'm a teacher and that's usually about the time we start back up, so I went with winter break. Your husband is probably right about covid planning! 10/10 would not recommend!
